Now boarded up. I hear on the grapvine that it's going to be converted into a hotel. A great shame as the place had great potential as a music venue - if only the people in charge knew how to run a live music pub. Such a waste...

Looks like another one lost to the tough times for pubs at the moment. All borded up when I went past the other night and no great signs of it being temporary either..

Forget it if you like your real ales. They actually had their own real ale festival here several years ago, but now the single hand pump on the bar is unused and gathering dust. A shame 'cos this place has a lot of potential as a live music venue as well. They've just moved the pool table round to the other side, which is a long overdue step in the right direction though...

Great pub if you like a bit of a punch up, if not i'd steer well clear. The management struggle to keep a lid on things on occasions, there are other much more pleasant pubs in the area. Avoid.!

Halleluiah, a pub with four dartboards a pool table and plenty of plasma screens for the Sky and Setanta. A disco or band was setting up during my visit and the stage behind had far too many Spurs flags up on the wall for my liking! Theres an unused ale pump and the Guinness was very nice. There are also about five standard lagers, but two of these were off.
Its a bit bare, but I got the impression that it is more of a music venue as there were only about four other customers at 19:30 on a Saturday evening and there is limited seating for a pub of its size.
The barmaids were friendly, but Id probably not go back unless I was out for a bop or I was passing and wanted to catch some football or chuck some arrows.

Good pub. Why the rhyming slanf name? This is The Warwick, always was, should still be.

It seems the 5 cover charge on the door for live bands on Friday and Saturday nights that was keeping people away has been abolished - making it much more of a venue where you can just drop in to see what's going on without wasting your money if you don't like the band. This is a very good thing.

This area of Barnet is rapidly becoming one of my favourite destinations to head to for a drink as there are so many good pubs within easy walking distance of each other. The pubs aren't just good but they are all distinctly different from each other which means it's hard to get bored round here and a crawl is an ideal way to pass an evening. The Bell & Buck is a medium sized pub set just back off the main road and is a distinctive rounded building in a good location. Inside there is a large central bar where you will be served quickly by friendly staff. Choice of beer isn't the widest especially for "real" ale drinkers who should probably head elsewhere, but the drinks that they do serve are fresh, cold and tasty. Prices aren't exceptional either way. They have TV's, background music and apparently live bands on occasion as well for entertainment and although the majority of drinkers seem happy to drink sitting or standing at the bar itself; there is a very nice set of comfy low sofas on one side of the pub and a cosy area by the front windows which is very pleasant to nurse your drink in whilst watching the world go bar. A good effort all round, not exceptional to the point that you'd go out of your way for it but very pleasant if you find yourself in need of a pint whilst in the viscinity. It also seems like it might be the local "Meet Market" pub where singles looking for company drink in small clusters, but it's nowhere near as tacky as places that normally end up being the venue for such encounters are.

The quality of the beer has improved greatly since the new management took over. The dodgy atmosphere went at the same time as the pool tables and the kids who play them. A few other improvements have been made since this pub was called 'The Bailey' as well - all good. Great live bands on some nights, very average pub rock some other nights. The 5 door charge to see the live bands drives a lot of people away - it's far more than people are used to paying to see a band in a local pub. Get there before 8.00 and you get in free though... ;-)
