The Alexandra Arms was one of a couple of pubs that was closing early on my Sunday afternoon visit for the staff's Christmas Party! I'm not sure whether that was for Christmas 2019 or Christmas 2020. But luckily I beat the 5pm curfew. I've been to a few pubs in the terraced residential streets of this part of Cambridge. But this is one that I had missed previously. It's a Greene King pub with a small bar area and steps leading down to further seating and an open kitchen. There is also outdoor seating. Ales were Greene King London Glory, Black Sheep Best Bitter, Oakham Citra, Bishop Nick Ridley's Rite & Mad Squirrel De La Crème. The latter was a nice milk stout. Another decent pub in this part of Cambridge.

Done out in Greene King's 'Pub & Dining' colours this place isn't big enough to be one of their proper 'pub restaurant' style establishments and ends up looking more like a street corner café. A middle class family came in to slum it on Sausage and Chips and Fishfinger and Chips - so very much a café serving beer. A shame really as the Mordue Workie Ticket wasn't a bad pint but let's face it this is no way a pub.

in spite of recent publicity regarding its 1 (out of 5) Food Hygiene rating, I think this place is still worth a try for beer. If they sort out the kitchen, they could really make something of the pub.

staff friendly. good selection on tap. i did not have time to sample all and just tried the noble, an english craft lager. good atmosphere and spacious while still having a few nooks and crannies , and the odd newspaper to read.
i can't abide the blue so i'm glad there's something else good in the same area and would return.

Under new management, but the Landlord is still Greene King. You wouldn't know it though, as they seem to be letting the managers/tenants choose beer off tie. Worth a visit. Food wasn't great when I went, but Blue, geldart and kingston not far away.

Looks to be improving under the new management - nicely sparse interior and beers well-served, with friendly people behind the bar. There is stiff competition nearby in the shape of the Cambridge Blue, but this neighbourhood should be able to support both - one hopes so.

it is under new management. the same owners as the free press pub on prospect row. 8 real ales with local breweries showing the way. food is all home cooked and very tasty at great prices. over sized glasses used to ensure a full pint. phone number 01223324448

New guys in charge now, and a really friendly atmosphere. Food looks good, especially the steak pie with home-made (really!) puff pastry - respect! Good Sunday quiz, but still anchored to the Greedey King guest beer list - pity given the choice nearby

Now run by Charlie and Caroline (formerly at the Alma), it is still Greed King but despite that it's a lovely place for a couple. Food is very reasonably priced and the guest ales change every now and again (but not enough for my fussy tastes!)

good food on special food nights. beer nothing special. an ok small boozer. good crawl-stop between the free press and the cambridge blue

Nice local pub, done out in a modern bar style with some comfy chairs, but without losing its charm. Small pub garden, and v. good food (though maybe a tad on the pricey side - between 6 and 10 quid for a main meal). Recommended if you're in the area.
