This pub has opened and closed god knows how many times in the last few years! Have to say don't know how long it will stay open this time. Didn't eat here but the dining area looked ok, the bar area however is awful, the chairs are all falling apart, the decor is like something from the 80's and the beer was very average! I'm sure if a health inspector saw the ladies toilets they would close the pub down!! Will not be returning, awful place!

They have reopened the food is one of the best in the area the beer is well kept and I wish them all the best, I will be going back again and again.

this pub is bankrupt 4th time since 2003 listing and is currently closed xmas 2010 and not likely to reopen as building has been stripped bare to pay debts

John Gregory was the name of the guy who built the pub. It was dus to be called something elas, but unfortunately Mr Gregory died while the pub was being built so they named it in his memory.

Being an ignoramus I have no idea who the John Gregory in question is although I suspect that it doesn't refer to the recently departed manager of Derby County! Grotty place with unfriendly punters and no real ale.
