Extremely quiet (and dark) on a Sunday night, which was a shame as the Hophead was good and the pub has some character.

Was very quiet but it was a wednesday lunchtime. Hophead superb and butties were well presented and value for money. The refurb looks good and I hope this place carries on improving, good to see that it is back on it's feet and that someone cares.

Popped in having heard it was on the up. One somehow expects an older, unremarkable and stayed interior, but in fact this is unexpectedly smart; more urban bistro than village pub. One could debate the relevance of such a design in that context, but it does seem to be working. It was early doors when I visited so hardly any others in. I imagine when it's busy with eaters and drinkers the bar and seating areas come alive. Greeted by a friendly sort of chap on the bar. Rarely eschewing the cask options (Dark Star Partridge and Hophead) I tried this new 'craft keg' product from Chapel Down vineyard, increasingly stocked in smarter Kentish pubs, Curious Brew. It was lightly carbonated and had a pleasant, subtle flavour. Very refreshing alternative to bland mass-produce keg lager on a hot day. Saying that, a half was sufficient and I suspect multiple pints might start to pall. Still, all very civilised and worth a look if you fancy a more contemporary village pub/restaurant experience.

Friendly, comfortable bar with choice of well kept real ale. Serve bar food as well as having a busy restaurant.

Very friendly pub in historic village. Surprisingly modern interior. Fine food (lamb curry was delicious) and fine Bateman's beer. No Dark Star beers, which I was led to beleive was there usual ales, but they don't seem to do these now.

Popped in this one with a group of friends at about 2pm after completing 10 mile walk around the local countryside. Nice clean pub with open log fire that was very welcome!
Not very busy at time of calling and a very nice bar meal and enjoyed a couple of pints of Dark Star best that went down very well! Although that could have had something to do with the walk!
Very relaxed place, could have spend the whole afternoon there in front of the fire with more Dark Star for company!

Had Dark Star Hop Head and Best on when I visited. Hotel not that busy, appears to be appealing more to the food market, but Hop Head was OK. Good to see a local outlet for there fine beers. Hotel comfortable inside, plenty of tables and sofas.

I got to Wrotham at 3:30pm last Saturday, two pubs were closed, The Bull was not the drinkers pub I was looking for, but they were very friendly and served me a well kept pint of Dark Star, A charming local lent me his paper and I had a very pleasant hour in the food free (at that time) front bar.

Whoever answered the phone on Thurs did not know whether the pub was open thru the afternoon but I was assured, since I was on my way and because the bar was busy, that I would be ok for a pint, erm, do the opening hours change daily then? Anyway, 10mins later there was nobody at the bar but a kids party was happening adjacent to it - something that would ordinarily have sent me running for the hills, but Id come out of my way in the rain and they were extremely well behaved young people having a sort of sit-down meal bash, Ikea meets McDonalds(?) so not really a place for traditionalists or aleheads, although they did have a couple of DarkStar beers and the Hophead was ok (even tho I can get a perfect version in less travel time). Not my kind of place, but dont want to be to down on the licensees who are obviously trying hard and they have booked a NOrleans jazz band in July & host a D-day dinner 06Jun a more family orientated pub, I feel. Oh, & they pronounce Wrotham as Rootem out here.

I would like to introduce myself as the new owner of The Bull Hotel. It has been very exciting to create the new menu for the restaurant; our idea is to use the freshest and highest quality ingredients available from the best local and national suppliers. In the bar area The Bull Hotel is serving light meals ideal for lunch with a glass of wine or a pint of beer. The cask ales will be from the award winning Dark Star Micro Brewery and the wine list will have 60 bottles with 10 wines by the glass. I am looking forward to meeting you, your family and friends at The Bull Hotel.

Stayed overnight in somewhat eclectic room! Beer was rahter run-of-the-mill butthe food was to die for. Menu changes each month and is definitely not the usual soup in a basket etc. Staff very friendly and service excellent. Breakfas is good although eggs, both scrambled and poached, rather over done. Good value being cheaper than local Travel Lodge and with the added value of being run by real people and used by the same.
