I really took to this pub. Unassuming, friendly, good beer (Including a 6% from Maxim which was perfect). Seemed to have that special something over the sum of its parts, the indefinable quality of a successful and well-loved pub. This will be my first call when next in Darlington.

A nice enough visit to what must be the oldest "railway" pub in the world. Apparently haunted by two ghosts, this venue still retains much character with wood panelling and atmosphere. Only one real ale on when i visited (a highly recommended pint of Double Maxim) though the friendly barmaid said the one real ale was constantly changed. Nice historic pub, worth a visit outside the darlo holy trinity of the "Quakerhouse/Brit/Glit"..

Friendly pub with at least one real ale at about 2.00/40 a pint. Separate bar and lounge with a log burning stove in the bar. No food, kids or dogs just a nice place to go for a quiet pint.

The Landlord of this but seems to favour Archers beer and after a few last night don't blame him, there was Archers City of Truro on sale at 4.2% and only 2 a pint, excellent taste wonder whats on next.

Pleasantly suprised , thought it'd be like 'Dusk til Dawn', well it was a bit but friendly enough and a good stop off on way to The Central Borough
