Appears now to have shut down

A very good place to eat, good value carvery at 7.95 and also the other steaks etc were substantial and good value for money. Seating areas both inside and out.
There were two real ales on my visit, the bitter was okay.
Suggest eating here then going on to the nearby Goat & Tricycle!

now down to 4 real ales I understand

A good idea - but poor standards of housekeeping will let this establishment down.... cobwebs, unpolished brass beer engines, dirty toilets etc. The carvery looked tired and there are too many ales available for the present level of demand.

Opened early in 2006.
Offers plenty of comfortable & stable wooden tables outisde with sunshine from opening time 'til shortly before sunset. (no plastic, thank goodness!) Only a short walk to the pier, the beaches and the town centre.
A good range of excellent real ales BUT THE ROAST BEEF CARVERY IS SUPERB VALUE! 6.95 on Saturday & Sunday and 10.00 for two during the week, with a choice of 8 vegetables! This is the best value carvery I've found in Bournemouth in the past 5 years and I live here! No dreadful music either. We'll certainly be back regularly. Thanks for opening on West Cliff!

Good range of real ales that are well kept. Carvery looks good too. No smoking inside but loads of seating outside. Very busy during the summer months.

A strangely contradictory place. It has eight real ales - including Theakstons Old Peculiar and Best, Courage Directors and Best amd London Pride - which might make you think that this is a drinkers' pub but the tables are of the dining variety and this, coupled with the open plan layout means that this 'pub' is clearly aimed at diners/tourists and feels more like a restaurant despite the welcome ales. The food did smell good though I didn't sample it. It's also no smoking. Hope that this place works out as Bournemouth is something of a real ale desert. However it's a shame that it's only a few minutes walk from the real ale mecca otherwise known as the Goat and Tricycle when there are other parts of town sorely in need of a real ale outlet.

Extensive and fresh real ales with friendly staff. The bar area is light pine which starts from the ceiling with large pine beams and then complimented throughout the walls the bar and the floor. The restaurant area is relaxed and comfortable.
The carevery offers two fresh cooked options of meat. With 8 options of fresh vegetables.
There is seating for 80 outside, which is a sun trap throughout the day.
My group were really looked after, the food was great and tried some real ales for the first time, am now converted especially at 2.30 a pint!
