great pub. the surrounding area is wonderfull, with the pub in a very quiet and secluded area of the green and rolling chiltern hills. loads of olde worlde charm inside, brilliant beers on selection (chiltern brewery ales, and warsteiner lager), and a huge garden area for those sunny days.
didnt eat, but was happy with everything else.

I visited late on a Sunday afternoon. A very polite and friendly young barmaid served me an excellent pint of Doombar. The few locals sat at the bar acknowledged me. Sadly I had to leave before I could sample more as this pub shuts at 7pm for the night!

Lovely old fashioned pub, lots of low beams and character, very friendly. 3 real ales Brakspear, Doombar, Chiltern Brewery, decently kept but sold rather cold. Good selection of food and good portions.

We've recently come here often, great peeps, garden etc, although yet to eat. What we have seen of the food going out looks fab, well worth a visit. They make you feel very welcome & there's none of that kind of 'clique' thing going on at all, which you can get in some local pubs! Excellent!!

I found the pub to be great - welcoming bar staff, roaring fire, and friendly locals. Food was great - good selection and great value for money. Will definitely be going back again, and can't wait to get use out of the huge beer garden come Summer. Highly recommend this pub to all.

Had a great evening at this pub with friends and will definately be returning in the summer to spend a lazy afternoon in the huge beer garden. The staff are lovely - definately not one of these country pubs that goes quiet when a stranger walks in!!!

The Old Swan is a lovely pub with a huge garden for children - lovely country setting. Nice food, a good pub to visit.

I recently visited this pub which is under new management. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They have clearly invested alot of time and money on refurbishing this quaint village pub, while maintaining all of its character and charm. I've had two meals there which I thoroughly enjoyed. The menu is a selection of home cooked family favourites using quality local produce. I would thoroughly recommend visiting this pub for either just a drink in the lovely garden or to try the food.

Myself and a group of friends went to this pub on a sunny day, the garden is huge and very dog friendly, we started by eating outside but when the rain came down the staff were really polite and helped us inside. All the food was yummy, I had lasange which was lovely and all of out party enjoyed the food. Perfect English pub with a great garden.

Recently visited this place and was SO disppointed. In theory it has everything going for it - beautiful location - a proper pub!
BUT - we really felt there was an arrogance about how it was run. Feels like it is concentrating on the unimportant things i.e. it had a really whizzy frothy coffee machine - but - when I asked for a ham ploughmans rather than one of the 3 cheese ones they offer, I was told flatly 'no'. Was very disappointed! They had hand carved ham on the menu - but would not do me a ploughmas! Ended up having a salad - but had to pay extra for 2 pieces of regular sliced bread. Husband had underwhelming cheddar ploughmans. We had to wait around 25 mins for these two salads - surprising as it wasn't that busy.
So our high hopes of a good lunch really were dashed! We won't be returning - there are heaps of better in the area. What a shame..

This place is what an English country pub should be; quiet, pretty, well kept beer, excellent food, a beautiful garden and an absolute delight in the summer. It's not the cheapest of places but that's propbably why it's so good, long may it remain so!
