before you act on the reviews below. please note, they were all dead right, BUT, this pub is now under another new management team from August 2010 and they know what they are doing. professional team who are hoping to recover the good will. Great music acoustic nights on Thursdays and events coming up. give it another try

Has gone through various managers, names and images over the years. Current incarnation not good. Back to the days of hooligans. One to avoid.

this was the first pub in caterham i went to and it was ok until one day my wife and i attended for a drink and was told we was sitting in someones seat...thats the last time we ever went in this place...shame cos its the nearest one to us too

Nice pub, normally have one decent real ale on (unfortunately they sometimes have London Pride which takes the gloss off). Usually quite quiet unless they've got a band on. Bus stop is just opposite, and is about 300 metres walk from the train station (too long for lazy gits though).

Surprised by previous review. Just had a lovely meal at the Valley which has been recently redecorated with a new outside heated patio area shielded by see through glass on one side - perfect for a smoke. Lovely planting outside and a warm welcoming atmosphere inside. Will definitely go again.

Average pub. Shame about the location! Long walk from station and bus stops. Not worth the effort!

Marvellous local. Friendly staff and customers. Good for food a game of darts, quiz nights and now they have just got a pool table!
Can be smokey but after July that will be a thing of the past so highly recommended.

Only been in here a couple of times for Sunday lunch which was nice. the decor is crap though, but the service makes up for it. though i have seen the barmaids smoking behind the bar, not very nice.

This place has gone through a lot of changes over the last two years. It used to be a fight-a-night, now you're more likely to get assaulted with a lap-top.
Great food and good atmosphere, Paul, the manager (and owner) has done wonders with this place.
Live entertainment every Saturday with local outfits like the brilliant Brightwhite.
