Still a very good friendly pub that doesn`t hit the pocket.

Friendly pub just down the road from Darlingtons market. Recently repainted its mainly a haunt for men during the day who friendly banter helps the beer flow. An excellent pint at 1.42p in December and sandwich at a 1-00p, beat that for value. Bus for Middlesbrough near by.

A fine Sam Smiths establishment in the heart of darlo. Old Brewery at 1.41 a pint is always a winner too.

Good cheap basic pub with friendly staff and customers.id recommend anyone in Darlington having a drink here

Cheap and friendly. I always call in on my way to the train station after a visit to the parents and often end up missing a couple of trains back to Newcastle. It's no glittering star, but I could think of alot of other pubs that are a lot worse, and come on 3 pints for less than a fiver! Not bad beer either.

The Glit is a superb find! Not only are you greeted warmly by the hosts,The beer speaks volumes and must boast of been the best Old Brewery in the North East. The prices are great value and you are gauranteed a differnt and lively topic of conversation everytime you visit!! Its a pub where you can go where there's no music thumping and no hoddies looking for the next fight Its a great place where I'll go time and time again!

I have been out of the country for 26 years and I am amazed that the "Glit" is still there. My friend's dad ran it 39 yrs ago. We used to make money on a Saturday morning mopping up the blood and beer(the floor was at an incline) that had collected from the previous night.

Well, I like it: it's a proper pub with proper beer and a real mix of customers. And it's incredibly cheap (Sam Smith's, you see). It's great to find somewhere not dominated by adolescents.

You've entered the Twilight Zone if you're in The Star. May your God go with you.....you'll probably need it.

I don't like this pub one bit. But it's probably no worse than it's nearby rivals, the nag's and the boot. But then there may well be no such thing as worse than those.
If you find yourself at the glittering star, you're just plain old in the wrong end of town. Go back to skinnergate or grange road.
