The Waverley Bar is the only pub that I could see in the immediate vicinity of the railway station. It's a little outside of the centre and they no longer serve real ale. The keg choice was Fosters, Guinness, Caledonia Best, John Smith's, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruits, Heineken, San Miguel & Tennent's. It has a nice, traditional interior, typical of a station pub. Service was friendly. But a few of the customers were a little inebriated. Moved on from here for a last real ale of the night at Pleuchie's Howff on the Annan Road, where the landlady was really friendly.

Near the station, this bar is a bit of a clutter of interesting stuff. There were only 2 out of 3 (I think) pumps working, one with Green King IPA, the other Loch Fyne Avalanche which was the best beer I'd tasted on that day. It was just a bit impersonal - had a handfull of punters but they nor the barstaff had any desire to engage in a bit of social banter!

has put up plaques of interest about the writer and town resident j.m. Barrie and his connection with the town. The gardens of moat house were the inspiration for Peter pan his most famous character. Nice touches like that make a pub and the Waverley is neat .

This place now boasts real ale, alterating between the Sulwath ""Criffel" & "The Grace". Plans are afoot to install a second pump, beer as yet undecided, so good on 'em!

this pub keeps getting better!

outside smoking area is covered, heated, and even has a telly!

a younger co-manager is bringing in a younger crowd to this local pub... the mix of folk is good, lively and friendly...

not much of a beer selection, a few malts...

dog friendly...

bar food (not very good- but quick and you can eat there with your dog at your feet)

near the station- if you want a quick drink before a train- this is the place...

update!

the smoking ban has saved this pub!

much cleaner and better now...

filled rolls and pub food available...

still has big screens for sport... horse racing often showing and being betted on....

local friendly crowd... also popular with workers visiting the area...

almost no malts...

and dog friendly...

very smoky and stinky... the smoking ban will either kill this place or make it much more enjoyable...

big screens for sport... horse racing often showing and being betted on....

local friendly crowd... also popular with workers visiting the area...

almost no malts...
