Has this pub closed down?
Surely not? Now I know that Dulverton and the surrounding area has a lot of rich people that would never dream of going to a pub like this. But there must be enough locals to go round that would support this place.
Any news on this pub?

This pub has the air of a good local. We felt welcome, being welcomed back on our second evening, when the landlady remembered what we had drunk the night before. We went to play the quiz machine and have a pre-dinner drink before eating at the Bridge Inn down the road. We didn't eat here. There was no loud music (or even quiet music) so you can talk. There are occasional quizzes.

I was last in here a while ago (think it was the old owners)
Top, top boozer
Myself and the missus took shelter in here during the day as a mahoosive hailstorm broke out. While in there, barstaff and locals were dead friendly (despite that we're from London :-) )had a couple of drinks then headed off. Later on, left a restaurant and bumped into the barman who served us earlier, he invited us back to the pub for a lock-in. The owner and his family came down too and made us feel very welcome, then sat with us until the small hours with a couple of locals, boozing away and swapping stories. He even offered to sell me the pub at a discount price. I made do with buying a couple of flagons of cider
Definitely one of the most welcoming places I have ever been in

Stayed recently in The Lion hotel just a minites walk away from the rock so payed many visits to this pub. friendly staff and good selection of ciders. Good dart area and ok pool table. Only real critism of the pub was the locals were not welcoming and made sure you knew that.

A very friendly pub in the Exmoor town of Dulverton. An excellent and ever changing range of guest beers keeps the locals coming for more. Try the excellent session beer "Tawny".
