Have visited and stayed at this pub now. It is quite unbeleivable inside like no other pub in the country that i know of. The selection of drinks is poor though, but you are so overwhelmed by the whole place you won't even notice!

Well, this is definitely an intersting pub and worth a visit just to see the place. However, when we stopped here for a drink and a meal in the summer, we found a few things that we didn't like, Firstly, the menu was very limited; I had a turkey ploughmans type meal, the salad was very small and the turkey appeared to be processed meat, for the price I was very disappointed. On the other hand, my wife had smoked salmon and was very pleased with her meal. Also, there were a lack of tables suitable for dining. We ended up eating the meal with plates balanced on our laps. On the whole, for location and ambience, this is a good pub; but do not choose it as a destination for food. (Although the pies are supposed to be very good).

a pub that's the closest thing to The Otherworld. simple but excellent food, great beer... and an amazing location on the edge of the moor. Probably the best pub I've ever been in.

I have been visiting The Highwaymann since 1972 and now visit once a month. Apart from the ambience of the place (and associated buildings) what makes this unique folly so specia is the atmosphre and warmth that is generated by the owners. There are not many places left in the uk where you end up having amazing conversations with total strangers The Highwaayman Inn is certainly very welcoming and very quirky.. It may take some getting used to because this is a world within a world and you may find you'll never want to leave.

Have never eaten here, but stopped by for a drink or two over the years. It's certainly worth a visit if you are in the area :) Landlady very helpful. Replaced a spilt drink at no charge.

Very interesting pub, some rooms quite spooky feeling as commented on before & there are certainly some weird & macabre things in here! I found both Sally (the landlady) and her chap friendly and the limited beer selection was well served. definately worth a visit

I HAVE STAYED HERE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILST TOURING DARTMOOR. I FOUND THE FOOD AND DRINK OK, NOTHING SPECIAL BUT THE PUB IS FANTASTIC ANCIENT WITH MANY UNUSUAL FEATURES AND PART OF IT IS HAUNTED...WITH ORBS APPARENTLY - NEVER SAW ANY. THE LANDLADY, SALLY WAS VERY PLEASANT BUT HER HUSBAND WAS QUITE RUDE TO MY PARTNER, FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WHILST STAYING THERE I ACTUALLY COULD FEEL THE GHOST OF SOMEONE IN DARK CLOTHES AND DARK HAIR AND THEY WERE QUITE SHORT AND STOCKY AND RATHER TOUCHY FEELY -MOST PECULIAR. THEY SHOULD SEND THE MOST HAUNTED TEAM THERE FOR SURE. THE CHURCH OPPOSITE HAS SHEELA=N-GIGS CARVINGS - INTERSTEING AND IN OCTOBER IT HAS MOST EXCELLENT MUSHROOMS GROWING ON DARTMOOR. ENJOY

went there last year. unbeleivable inside has to be seen to be believed. landlady was very friendly and the booze was good. worth taking a small divert to see.

Rather average drinks, crips okay.
Stonking place to visit though, if you're in the area, it's worth going for the novelty alone.
How do you rate it? Can' rate it as a pub, I made a flying visit whilst cycling from Lydford Gorge to Okehampton and had a unrememarable beer and the others had soft drinks served from a supermarket own brand bottle.
I'll give it a 10 for fascintating place to visit, a 3 for the drinks and settle on 8 overall.

The most unique unusual pub ive ever visited a must see, from the unusual building itself into an aladdins cave, acommodation offered and decent real ales served, also the landlady was very friendly and allowed us to wonder around at will highly recommended
