I will start with the positives. The staff in the main were pleasant & hard working. Apart from one grumpy young barmaid. Good outside eating areas. We went there last Saturday the warm sunshine had brought the visitors out & the place was heaving.
Downside, the food! Very fast service about 5 mins after placing the order. A bit too fast as everything came with peas & chips, it all looked bland & I'm afraid it tasted like it. The only bit of green stuff I saw came with a burger. If you like McDonalds you may like this.
The beer, Nothing wrong with Ringwood's but this was not as well kept as it should be. 49er & best on tap.
O.K it's a great location but it is over rated. At best a 5 in my book.

Nice little pub. Friendly bar staff and a few local beers. Bit old fashioned in terms of all the 'older' couples sitting around next to each other facing inwards looking at the other 'older' couples as if waiting for something to happen or not really that interested in each other! But dogs seemed welcome - always a good sign in my book!

Great little welcoming pub in winter; the boozer from hell in summer.

Was visiting the area 8-12 April, and was in Mudeford on the 11 April. I disagree with the previous person's comments. This is a crackin pub - superb location, great beer, nice food, they allow dogs in, and inside was not dingy - it was a traditional cosy pub to me. Yes, the food is a little pricey, but if you accept that it is pub fayre in a prime location, then it's fine. I wouldn't fancy it on a busy summer's weekend though - it must be mobbed. Perhaps it's odd to comment on this, but the loos were recently refurbished and were very clean - usually a good omen for any pub.We loved the pub and would go back again. I guess we all have different tastes and expectations.

Unbelievably average boozer in a top tourist spot. Admittedly the staff were friendly and the ringwood x2 was good to drink, but the food was just below average - such a missed opportunity for a spot like this. Assume the footfall they do get means they dont really need to try very hard, i ordered the 'home made' pie which arrived as a stewing steak stew, rich sauce and one of those dreaded pre-fab floating pie tops ditched on top of the debris. The fish and chips was just boring, deep frozen white fish, battered and the whole lot topped by those generic frozen chips.
The prices were around 8 for a main so not the 10-12 for those restauranty pubs but even so i could cook better at little effort.
Pub is otherwise dingy, laminated baked potato style menu's usual usual usual how on earth this pub made a 7.3 ranking is beyond me as it screams i am a 4.5-5 rank pub MAX! which for the location is a crying shame (cafe next door didnt look like much either - same owners i reckon. Take a few beers and a sandwich.

We LOVE this pub!!!! Especially during winter.....I think it is our dogs favourite too! There is nothing out of the norm...or one thing that makes it special for us...it is just the whole place!
Good service....good food....and good quirky little corners to sit in!
Brilliant!

Small cosy pub, stuck out on the end of Mudeford Quay overlooking Christchurch Harbour. Very dark with a few booths, the single bar has a bit of an old world atmosphere about it. Nice pint of Ringwood Best, didn't try the food but it looked good.

We were on holiday in the area and the main reason we stopped here was because we were told it was dog friendly. I can confirm that it is and you can eat with your pooch in the bar area.Staff were friendly enough, water was laid on and they gave the pooch some biscuits, nice touch. It was a hot day when we visited, 28 degrees(or 86 in English) so I daren't try the ale or I'd fall asleep in minutes but it looked good! I can recommend the Whitebait

Being in the centre of a tourist spot it is always full of holiday makers at the weekends. Thankfully it has a no children restriction inside (welcomes dogs though). Out of season, its great. On a cold winters night its lovely to walk across the quay and be welcomed by the friendly bar staff (who always have a couple of dog biscuits and a bowl of water at the ready for well behaved pets). Two real open fires, very cosy, good bar food and beer. Very nice indeed.

Last time I visited this pub I was ignored at the bar - which does not go down too well! Maybe they were very busy but no excuses really. Great location but could do so much better.

Cozy little pub. Unusually, the most recent refurb didn't ruin the character of the place. Good pint of Ringwood 49er. Not sure whether this is a Free House as stated on the sign outside however. Didn't try the food.

Great location in the summer when you can sit outside. Good choice of beers often including Ringwood "Specials"

Visited on a dull January day.Fabulous location, organised interior with friendly staff. Good beer. Good food reasonably priced but a little overboard with the chips, room for improvement. Toilets spotlessly clean.

ancient pub on Mudeford Sandbank. Despite its makeover a while back remains a noisy and popular drinking hole with good beer and decent food. Somewhat overwhelmed with grockles in the summer.

Tiny weeny pub, but Dave Gilmour works behind the bar. Beat that.

This pub is quite small but the atmosphere is amazing, especially when sitting outside the back on a hot summers evening. It can sometimes get really busy in the summer so get there early if you don't like sitting outside. Food is good if a little overpriced, but you can expect that with the location
Overall a great little pub with a friendly atmosphere, definatly worth checking out

This is a great little place with quality bar food and a couple of decent local pints on (usually Ringwood).
It is probably better in the winter, with the roaring fire, as during the summer (especially in the day) it tends to be very, very, very busy.

What a unfriendly pub. No children signs everywere, glass collectors clearing your table with a fag in mouth. The bar staff were slow and impolite. They seem know they have the location so dont need to try with there customers. Wont be rushing back.
|
a stunning place to be on a summers day, sit outside on the terrace and watch the trawlers heading out to sea. great views of the isle of wight and the marina and not many pubs you can get a pint of prawns at!!!
