Pretty standard pub near a railway station...ie a bit scruffy with people coming and going and a bit soul less.
Seems to be doing its best and had a decent rang of beers on tap...the Greene King IPA was fine.

The main pub for away fans. Better than some away pubs, but other pubs in town are preferred. Note - it closes 3pm-6pm after games on Saturdays

A handler's lair of epic proportions.

A recent name change and an internal re-funishment. It is now know as The Riverside Hotel and the bar has been opened out re-decorated and has some new furniture. It is definitely better than it was but saying that - the beer was decidedly average (shame as it was Woodford's Wherry which is normally as excellent ale) and the TV screens and music system were competing with each other for attention! It welcomes away supporters but you have a choice - if you like good beer drink somewhere else and make a late dash for your train or have one here and accept it for what it is!! Next time I'll do the former.

One thing I can never quite understand is why certain pubs, or more their staff, insist on inflicting loud and unnecessary "music" on people who obviously DON'T want to listen to their choice of shite. You have a large pub with plenty enough space to play music at those who want it (though on this case there was NO ONE who wanted it) and space to have a quiet area where people can have peace. Apart from that the ale was crap. This pub has always been a craphole but I have the feeing that the imminent changes have kind of made the staff even more oblivious to the plight of the people they are (allegedly) there to serve. If you have a train to catch from Ipswich station it is best to cut it fine and buy a can on the train and accept the fact that there is nowhere in the vicinity of the station to stop for an ale.

Favourite pub for visiting Watford football supporters. Super staff with a welcoming atmosphere. Many thanks and remember there's only one team in Yellow!!

had 45 mins to wait for my train so i went in i found the price for a pint of premier beer quite reasonable at 2-70 pub ok espcially if waiting for a train.being a weekday late afternoon was quite busy also must be busy when ipswich town fc with the amount of plastics glasses store above the bar

I stopped in for a pint of Spitfire while waiting for delayed train last Thursday. Less than half dozen customers in. Spitfire OK as was my mates Adnams. Whilst the guy behind the bar staff was friendly enough two of the drinkers gave us the look of "what the **** are you doing in here?" We enjoyed our beer and avoided futher eye contact till our train came in. Doubt we will call in again.

Only worth a visit if you miss your train and need to kill some time. A not particularly well kept pint of Directors was all I had. Judging by how quiet the pub was for a Saturday Evening, I would not imagine they have much of an ale turnover.

huge barn of a pub, got potential, 7/10

LOVED THE SERVICE I RECEIVED FROM A YOUNG LADY FROM LITHUANIA, WHOSE NAME I WON'T PUT ON HERE BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE HER PERMISSION TO...... BUT SHE WAS POLITE, CURTIOUS,AND RESPECTFUL, AND I ENJOYED THE BEER ALSO. I HOPE TO GET SERVED BY HER ON A REGULAR BASIS !! RATING OF 10 AS 95% FOR THE SERVICE I HAD, I WOULD NEVER ENTER THE PUB AGAIN IF THE YOUNG LADY WHO SERVED ME DIDN'T WORK THERE.

Worth a pitstop if you have to wait for the train. Limited beer range at times, but Directors was good on my visit last week. Food is good value.
The pub itself lacks a little intimacy, but I think they need the space for the football trade.

i/ve been there couple of times recently.i/ve met the manager, nice but funny irish guy,he said he used to work in london in the busiest pub down there, yeah i wonder...still the pub itself isn/t bad but i think the manager, sorry i didn/t remember his name,isn/t the right person on the right place.

Not a good pub for beer.No real ales on so you are better off going into town for a decent pint.
