Hey..this is a proper pub. ..in a proper Cornish fishing village. A warm fire and a warm welcome. Good beer and friendly local banter in this excellent one bar pub. Great that it has been rescued and appears to have found a niche that does not rely on holidaymakers and food sales.

It appears to be gone forever I'm afraid! Sad as Meva needs another pub. Any takers please convert the silly upstairs eating area back to a bar and mind your head going down the cellar!

Now closed. A great shame to see another pub lost. For sale/To let signs in place. Any takers?

Visited recently and seen its up for sale, shame, replace the fireplace spruce it up a bit and im sure it could be a great little pub again. Heard rumours that people are eyeing it up to convert it into a house, how many more pubs are going to bite the dust?, crying shame if it happens

I don't know if the management's changed, but this year there were only two ales on show, and they were on handpumps.

OK, I happen to think beer tastes better straight from the cask, but the fact is that this pub has very little in the way of individuality or character and having several casks at the back of the bar somehow gave it a little something extra. The new broom has swept all that away. A big mistake, I feel.

To be honest, it now looks like what it is, a rather rundown town pub without a great deal to recommend it. We'll definitely try one of the others next time we're in the town.

Good, friendly local pub, good selection of local ales, in excellent condition (tho I was sadly unable to test them all!) in casks behind the bar.

Nice selection of decent, good-value food and friendly barman.

On a recent visit I was somewhat disappointed by the condition of the real ale, which is kept on the back of the bar (in barrels). The food is tasty with generous portions for the hungry.

A good old fashioned one room pub with a tremendous selection of ales for its size. The ciders are good too, but be cautious.
In winter the open fire adds to what is a friendly, convivial ambience.
In layman's terms: a bloody good pub with good beer.
