please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Closed for a while - now reopened as The Acorn, and run by the former governor of a nearby pub.

Went in the newly names 'The Acorn' for a pint and was pleasantly surprised. Good selection of well kept real ales. No food, so don't plan to eat here. If you want a decent pint in Kinson then this place fits the bill. Friendly landlord, maybe new? A good add-on to real beer bars across Bournemouth.

It certainly is, sadly Tesco has built on the Royal Oak, most regulars have come across the road.

Low beamed pub with a number of rooms, reasonable pint of Sharps Atlantic whilst waiting for the bus that stops outside.

John and Lisa were so good they lasted all of three months, nuff said. I think most of the proper, decent gullys regulars know who and what was the best thing to happen to gullys for ages. Happy New Year where ever you are.

Those people you call idiots were the best thing that happened to Gullivers mate. But I must agree with you about these 2 new ones. They are unbelievable, with manners of pigs, but then again she does resemble a bogdog. I will never ever drink in that place again. Bring back John and Lisa.

Used to defend this pub from uninformed criticism never again. Two of the most miserable hosts I've ever known, change from the idiots who had it last i suppose. Won't be using this place again as i can't bear to see a once decent boozer deteriorate as we get one new manager after another. The couple who were here for nearly a decade,Paul and Clare, bought stability and happiness to a troubled pub. Wherever they are now I'm envious of their locals as they won't have to put up with their favourite boozer being destroyed by bad management. See you all in the Royal Oak

What have these lunatics done to my local? It's like stepping back ten years. Bring back the old landlord and his missus, now there was a couple who could run a boozer.

its ok cleaner now no smoking the landlord and his wide are friendly it doeswaht it says on the tin basic honest local

This pub had quite a reputation, but it seems to me that the landlord has turned it around as much as possible while ridiculous comments and blatant lies are being circulated by people that obviosly don't know the place! It is alright for a local boozer and I have enjoyed quiet evenings with no trouble whatsoever.

Where are these pubs where there is or has been no trouble? Shame johnkn7 feels the way he does about the pub at least his is a more thoughtful view, apart from the Doherty dig. This pub is no better or worse than many a community-based pub and to be a footy-bore it's got sky.

Nigegil's comments were perhaps somewhat intemperate but I had to chuckle when I read anonymous's comments about the police being rarely called. It comes to something when the police being 'rarely' called is a cause for celebration and lets be honest, the police are rarely called to Gullivers in the same way that Pete Doherty rarely partakes of Class A's.

Anonymous, try drinking in a pub where the police are never called. There are more of them about than you might think.

Anyway, as far as the pub itself goes, the ale selection is poor and I take no pleasure in saying that it really is unwise to drink in here unless you're local.

'Mcewansdrinker' says to "look out for the sporting tipsters, the gentlemans (sic) club members and the debating society". Translated, this means look out for the football bores, misogynists and the local branch of UKIP.

This pub, what can you say?. pick a window your leaving. Thats as freindly as this pub gets. A name change didnt make it any better. The less said about gullivers the better. Good job there is the royal oak pub over the road. At least your welcomed by friendly people at the oak

possibly the best pub in the world then again i do have serious mental health problems so feel quite at home there with the rest of the inmates not bad beer though could do with an a la carte menu

Ian151265 and sariantino (see previous comments), this is a local's pub, so don't be too suprised if on your first visit the regulars are not falling over themselves to buy you beer and engage you in topical conversation all night. The Gullivers is a down to earth pub, good beer, good company (when you get to know them)and filled with local characters. look out for, the sporting tipsters, the gentlemans club members, the spoof team and the debating society. Happy drinking !!

This is quite honestly, apart from a pub i once visited in Drumchapel,Glasgow,The worst pub ive ever visited and possibly the one ive felt least safe in ever.beer was utterly grotty, customers tried staring me out and overall just a dump.Let it go the way of Pokesdowns White Horse!!!
ian151265 - 20 Feb 2006 19:01
i completely agree with baz except for 'a bit of reputation' it has a shit reputation and for good reason too. its a nice pub but the people dont like you if they dont know you. good facilities now but could do with a discipline procedure being furthered and maintained
sariantino - 9 Jan 2006 14:04
this pub has a bit of a reputation for trouble in the past but we found it a nice bar and yes some of the customer were interesting but did not feel threatened basic but good beer on tap and a friendly landlord
