Unfriendly staff, unwelcoming landlords, crummy beers and several lout mugs during the weekend

Very average

Not a great pub, but maybe i caught it on an off night. I had an an encounter with the local hostile drunk, and swiftly left before things turned violent. The barstaff seemed completely indifferent to the situation. Your definitely better off staying in Flanagans, next door.
|
advertises traditonal english food but does not do a roast.....wtf....
drink was lacking in any taste, but pritty blondie behind the bar kept me there for a few vodka's
|
landlord in flanagans told me to come in here for a game of pool, bit on the quiet side but beer was good and had a few games of pool with out being disturbed.
|
while i was waiting on my friend (he had an interview across the road) i popped in here for a pint, got some food as well. really like the place, staff very friendly, not far from west ealing staion, makes it easy for me to come back, i like

After a few bad pints in previous pubs it was good to getting back tasting proper pints. Was a bit on the quiet side, so moved on across the road, will pop back for the music at the weeked.
|
improve the pints and i will pop back, not a bad pub tho

still the best in the area for Friday night entertainment...karaoke is by far the best and have been featured on channel five and radio Hayes. Was fun singing there with cameras recording you....music is great as well.....and staff are fun..has doormen aswell so keeps a lot of the trouble out

I echo Tiny's comments from last year - it's a bizarre pub. Nice decor, reasonable location, but, the bar staff are unwelcoming, and the 6X I had (which I usually adore) the other night was poorly kept. My wife and I drop in about once every year or so to see if it improves. Sadly it does not. It's got serious competition in the much better (but more expensive) Castlebar across the road. I want to like Ashby's, but I can't.

Hmmmm no real ale on the 11th of October. That is a LIE. Maybe you should put as much effort into looking for it as you have into lieing about it. Its next to all of the other 8 pumps where its always been.
Ashbys now has new managers and has done since the middle of September. Why not try the new Ashbys and give it a chance!

Drab unwelcoming pub with no real ale at all. Compeletely ourshone by its excellent neighbour, The Castle Bar.

Karaoke has now moved from Tuesday to Friday. Still the best in the area and great beer. Super thai food and Friday nights with Karaoke is worth trying
|
Oh yes, and it was a Saturday nigth by the way.

Hmmm.. this is a strange pub. Having lived in Ealing for the past 3 years now and havng just moved further down into West Ealing I wasn't too familiar with these local haunts.. Took a couple of friends to the castlebar and then thought we'd 'migrate' over to Ashby's for a slight change. It was dead. It was about 10:30pm and there were a couple of lads smoking out the back but that was it. A small bunch came in later to play pool and then a couple parked on a sofa later on too. It is very nice inside (not been before it was refurbed) but the outside needs to be updated and follow the theme inside. It doesn't really welcome you in from the outside. Basically, when you looked over the road everyone was in the Castlebar. They need to sort this out somehow. Shame.

heard about the Karaoke on a Tuesday and tried it...was one of the best.....not many there but they have only just started it and its getting popular.... Recently been refurbished and looks good, great friendly staff and beer good. definatly worth the visit will be back next tuesday.....
|
not a bad place for 1 or 2 starter drinks but not a place to stay all night, would bore the pants off of you...
|
Not that bad. Had run out of beer on pump but apart from that the band was good (not just your usual three-piece covers band).

depressing...rough...dark...avoid

I used to avoid this pub as it had a bit of a rough rep but over the last year or so I have been pleaseantly suprised. The bar staff are friendly and familiar the drinks are reasonably priced and although it is not really a cocktail kinda place they are happy to have a bash at them and they are more often then not spot on. There is a pool table and a juke box but nobody fights over them and therefore you can enjoy a game. There a big squashy chairs by an open fire for a cosy drink with a group of mates or a more secluded area at the back for a quiet private drink. Open mike nights and Karoke entertain those looking for something a bit more lively. A rooftop beer garden is avaliable in the summer. Now I will stop singing Ashbys but would defo say to try their great krone extra cold.
