Great pub , always good beer, friendly.

Good real ale pub not too far from the town centre. An enjoyable place. You're spoiled for choice in Darlington but this is a good place to try.

Town centre pub offering a decent range of ale. Camerons, Exmoor, Bath and Wharfedale available on this visit. All beers tried were in top form. Very friendly staff and customers made us feel welcome.

No frills town boozer with the bar to the left as you enter and a function type room to the right of a central corridor. Fairly plain dcor with proper pub seating and Britannia tables, there is a small shrine to Newcastle United at the back. Facilities also include a small TV and a fruit machine, the back wall and the bar are decorated with the pump clips of many counties. Six handpulls with Camerons Strong arm and John Smiths Cask as regulars plus four guests, Mordue, Brakspears, Moorhouses and something from Fox & Morrisey when I visited, all the available beers including the usual keggy stuff are listed on a blackboard by the bar door. Friendly chatty locals, good no frills service and excellent beer quality

Came across as very much a locals' boozer. Long and narrow interior that hasn't been decorated for a few decades but has TV screens that was showing sport on my visit. Wonderful choice of good quality ale on offer and a friendly enough atmosphere.

Excellent local pub with good beer, friendly staff and locals. Interior is cosy in the old style. Worth the walk from the own centre. I'll call again when in town.

Lovely traditional boozer that is very cosy and welcoming. It is just outside the town centre ring-road so away from the late-night booze circuit. On a weekend night it is busy but not overwhelmingly so. Usually a few good ales on and feels like it hasn't changed in decades. If you're after for a proper pub in Darlo, make it here.

Found a Highgate beer (local to where I live) that I had not had before in this very friendly local. It is another on my list to visit when in Darlington.
|
Very friendly and always sells an excellent pint, lost my notes but there was at least six real ales on, this pub has often won pub of the year in Darlington, well worth a visit.
|
At least two interesting guest beers in this delightful, friendly town centre "local".

Fantastic little boozer , beer is well kept and atmospere fine n' dandy. I'm not a local but I didn't think it was a pub from Royston Vasey. Maybe Dell72 should purchase his T shirt, sounds a good idea, sod it I'm gonna get one myself.

Proper public house. Slighty skewed beer selection at the time of my visit - all dark ales or typically northern Ruby ales. I like the basic nature of the place, not at all pretentious. Has been named Darlington CAMRA pub of the year.
|
Bit of a strange one, traditional local place full of old blokes, fairly friendly, I quite like it and so do a couple of my mates but a lot of people including the missus can't stand it. Good beer though, and cheap too.

Changed management 2 years ago. Very friendly pub, great beer too.

The only time that I have ever visited The Britannia , was years ago with my girlfriend . I was told that they only served ' locals ' , so I asked the landlord on how I become a local and he looked mesmerised and asked us both to leave or he would call the Police ! ( True ) .
If you ever decide to visit this scruffy , small and unpleasant watering hole , then please wear a t - shirt that reads , ' LOCAL ' .

Winner of the local CAMRA pub of the year 2005. Great beer, pleasant local just off the Town Centre and away from the truly horrible central venues.
