A nice pub that does retain some character, the jennings cumberland ale was well kept, the food we had omlettes and scampi with chips and peas was very nice as was the apple pie and toffee puds with custard. All in all a good experiance and when in town again a pub i would certainly revisit.

Despite it's open plan chain style it retains some small vestiges of character (like a small dart's room) but spoils it by inflicting high volume speakers blaring out crap music in every part of the place. They had Theakstons and Spitfire on but I didn't fancy risking it (another place where no one else was) so had a pint of lager instead.
