Pub owned by the VICE media enterprise plc. Had some fun nights in here but can be expensive. The eponymous beer takes a bit of getting used to! I have met some friendly and interesting enough people over the years in here so overall I recommend.

Nice old fashioned pub with small venue upstairs. Has some good bands.
The thing that stops me using this pub is the appalling beer. I only drink lager, and £4.50 for a pint of Amstel that I literally couldn't drink is a bit much. Either there is nobody at the pub who understands basic publican practice, or they are watering the beer down with lighter fluid and fairy liquid. And that's the lager - I hate to imagine what the ale is like.

Popped in here on the way to gig. Four hand-pumps on the bar, asking for a pint was met with a surly and dismissive 'not ale' with no explanation.Had a pint of Guinness which weighed in at a disgraceful £4-70. Awful pub 'playing' at being a real ale pub. Will be avoiding in in future...

I've always found this place to be a decent stop off for a couple of pints before going off somewhere else. It's pretty basic, whether that's an intentional aesthetic or just complacency is hard to say.

4.50 per pint - nowhere near worth it. Walked out after one.

Liked the high-ceiled interior, large Truman, Hanbury & Buxton mirror behind the bar and Rough Trade-supplied jukebox (Sex Pistols, Stooges and New York Dolls played during my visit - class). However, lack of any ales a disappointment as well as 4.50 for a pint of Stella Black...

Went here for a live band and found the experience positive on the whole. It was a bit weird when going to the upstairs toilets because there was no light to tell you which door was what. Luckily, there was a figure sitting in the darkness to literally point out (no talking allowed by the looks of it) which door I should go through. The selection of ales was poor (Boddingtons and Pride in bottles) and the lager choice was uninspired. The fact that they ran out of lager did not bode well either. Not as bad as had been made out by other reviewers but I would think twice about going here on a non gig night. The band were good though (The Hot Rats for the record).

Is this pub still open? Tried to get in at about 5 pm on Monday this week and all the doors were locked. Or do they just open very late?

Tired looking interior that I suspect is a deliberate attempt to recreate the atmosphere of Camden pubs in the early 1980s. The seats around the outside of the pub that have been rescued from a theatre (still with numbers on them) are a novel touch but being Hoxton it attracts many, many people who I would prefer to out of sight and hearing when I am unwinding in the evening.
There is a rather magnificent mirror/ glass emblem in one corner but the toilets are foul and I could do without the studenty / trendy company.

This isn't a pub, just an extension of the Vice magazine lifestyle. Owned by Vice. Everyone wearing American Apparel (Vice clothing chain), wanting to be witness to a scene that's dictated to them. Go there for the free gigs and to people-watch.

Smells of wee. Nuff said.

There's potential here, but no ales and the want over 4 pounds for a lager. Shame

Sh*t pub, sh*t drink, full of cretinous bellsniffs. In summary, not great.
