Bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

Nice bar area and also has a decent suntrap outside area but it was simply too hot for us.

A few ales on although I had Carlsberg.

A decent location too on the sea front.

6/10

The pub has undergone a bit of a transformation recently and now sell the excellent locally brewed ales from the Wizard Brewing Company, which I tried recently and would recommend.

decent freshly cooked food, the beer was good but a bit of a boring selection, Doombar and another similar type, preferred the food here but a better selection of ales in the mariners

Ate here 5x when on holiday. Good food freshly cooked and well served. A good specials board backed up a varied standard menu. Good value for money. We ate in the restaurant most nights, the bar area is more lively with lots of locals - a good sign.

Cracking pub. Friendly folk. Lovley pint of Doom Bar and the Sea Bass was excellent. There's a nice big shiny helmet in the bar to!

Agree it looks odd from the ouitside but the beer was good and the food also good. Service efficient and friendly and would recommend.

This pub has slightly unpromising exterior, I thought at first. The front is dominated by very large windows and that looks slightly odd for a pub. However, it becomes more obvious when you sit inside, as it gives you a lovely view out over the bay.

The Doombar was smashing. Food was good and reasonably priced. It was fairly busy on a Sunday night at beginning of September.

Very pleasant welcome. The beer was good and the food was tasty and good value. The restaurant, when open, has an excellent view over the bay. Not the best pub of the three near the seafront - that was the Royal Marine - but far and away better that the Fo'csle.

Just spent a week in Coombe Martin and went to the Dolphin to eat twice, the food wasellent, good sized portions and great value for money. The atmosphere was good and child friendly, but must say the beer was superb especially the Devon ales. Thank you for two lovely evenings.

Smashing little pub and by far the best at the seafront.
Eden and Doombar were on tap, both of which were fine.
The food is prepared in a flash and was both tasty and plentiful.
The pub does indeed have one platformed foot wedged firmly in the 70's which is superb.

Popped in for an early evening drink the first week in July. Doombar OK but have had better. Wines out of a Stowell's dispenser cabinet which is OK but like others say a bit dated. Unfortunately one of the glasses was greasy on the outside(served by an old fellow who could hardly see- so not his fault) but the landlady(?) was most un-concerned when I pointed this out. Agree that it could be a real gem of a pub with its location but needs to come out of its time warp.

The Doombar was in good condition and the food arrived quickly and was enjoyable. A ladies darts social was going on which gave the place some atmosphere on a Monday evening. On a downside this pub has the worst gents toilet I have ever seen. Poor decor, cubicle out of action and vomit in the urinal - disgusting.

Very 70's

I visited this pub on 1 August 2007.
It is old and tired, both the premises and the cask ale.
The girl at the bar could not have cared less about anything except reading her book. Fortunately for her there was only a couple of customers at lunch time on a beautiful day!
If ever one saw faded glory this is it. It could be a good pub given some care, but it isn't.
Avoid at all costs.
