I quite liked this pub, which is situated very close to Brough railway station. There is a spacious public bar at the front and a dining area at the rear. Timothy Taylor Landlord & Tetley Cask were supplemented by Robinson's Dizzy Blonde and Weston's Old Rosie cider. Real cider seemed very hard to come by on this visit to Yorkshire and it was only the second I'd come across in this my 17th pub of the weekend.

Nice pub, good location, use it most weeks . Beer is good but staff need lesson in manners, very rude to some people.

Sorry Phil but you are out of order. The Buccaneer is a truly great Yorkshire pub, with first class real ales and great staff to boot!!
|
full of loud, obnoxious locals who make drinking here whilst waiting for a train unbearable. Wait till you get to Hull to have a refreshing drink.

Pub location is correct, it is the station that must be in the wrong location.
On the contrary, I found the bar service slow; and the barman then topped up my guest ale with Tetley and did not apologise. Also an expensive pint.

No smoking ban has made this pub more popular with food, not a lot of change drinkers/smokers(non)Still the best FRESH cooked food for miles and I mean miles On lunch times the servise of the barmaid (Sue) is fast and polite.I keep going back.....ENJOY

My local - its a great pub at the front bar, food is a bit poor for its food though. barmaids only like to serve the men though usually, but I get most of my drinks bought so doesnt worry me.

I think the location given is wrong as it is about 0.1 miles from Brough station! It is a quality boozer with 1st rate ales 4 of them( also including the rare Tetley Dark Mild) and absolutely excellent food. It also has one of the prettiest barmaids I have seen for many a year whose sunny personality only added to her attractiveness. In the unlikely event that you are stuck waiting for a train in Brough this is about as good a near-station pub as you are likely to get.

Competent village pub with decent Black Sheep, not a place I wanted to stay long though

An old station-side pub with a front lounge bar and excellent restaurant at the back serving great Sunday carvery / roasts and wide range of specials mid week., including excellent steaks and REAL chips - ie made of potato! Always a good range of beers - tetley and Black Sheep seem to be the best sellers. Sensibly priced wine - good range too. Service can be hit and miss in the reataurant at times, but some of the girls do try. Our American friends love the quaint little seats ion the windows, etc. Smallish car park (which is gret as the locals will let your tires down if you park on the street, they get hell from commuters parking there all day. I think this was once the Station Inn or something but its now named after the Buccaneer planes, which have been made at the nearby British Aerospace factory for about 40 years now, and still in production I think?
