The only "proper" pub still in Verwood all the others have long since turned into eateries with a bar.
Staff are all friendly and the landlord keeps his beer very well so you will not be getting a suspect pint. The regulars are also friendly and this is the only pub my wife feels comfortable going into on her own as she will always be spoken to and made welcome.
Food is available lunch times during the week and is well presented at reasonable prices. Tastes good too. Pub not usually busy then so service nice and quick which is needed lunchtime if you are working.
At other times you may be able to sample a cheese or ham roll other than that it is the usual crisps and nuts.
Only problem with the pub really is it's size. The single bar is very large and as a consequence it can look uninviting when there is less than about 30 people in there.
On the other hand if you want to sit undisturbed for a quiet chat, read of the papers over a pint or that private meeting this is just the place.

This pub is definately the most friendly pub in Verwood, you can go in not knowing anyone and leave with new friends.
It may lack atmosphere at times but please visit on a Friday night and see if you can say the same thing!
As for only serving rolls maybe you should read the signs more thoroughly as it quite clearly states that food is served between 12 and 2 Monday to Friday.
I don't really know what people expect from pubs these days but this is what I would call a "proper" pub.
This pub should really not be knocked down as Verwood has not got enough amenities already and can't afford to lose this one.
Right I'll get off my high horse now!

Good beer and friendly service make this pub a must to your visit to Verwood.
Severely lacks atmosphere but can offer cold rolls when needed.
I was sorry to be informed by the landlord that the pub faced the threat of closure, and was only too happy when asked to sign a petition against this.
Rumour rating: almost definite

Alledgedly serves Sunday roast, but I guess that is more likely to be from the locals if you look at them in the wrong way. An eyesore that would surely be improved only by it's destruction. Even the service in the Albion makes this place look bad.
Definitely worth a visit though, plenty of places to park!

Went there for lunch. Despite advitising hot and cold food between 12-2 and a big cooked food menu on the wall were told only cold cheese rolls available. I was also dissappointed with the drinks as well as they only had Badgers Bitter.Somewhere to avoid!
