Stopped on a Sunday late afternoon on our way home. A "local smart pub, for local smart people. We'll have no trouble here". Fontmell strikes me as a rather "nice" place to live. Pleasant enough welcome. Three real ales on. Tried one that may have been named after the pub or something. An RCH one and Courage Directors were also on offer. Not a cheap round. Very nice high quality furnishing - especially the red and blue stripe upholstery. Nice little seating area further in on way to the restaurant. I sense the car park just needs a minimum height barrier to stop anything other than Range Rovers etc parking in it. Need to make another visit sometime to be fair.

Up for sale at the moment (as a Free House) for 375,000. A pity, as it is a good place, with good food.

Very friendly and welcoming. Excellent beers. Captivating barman and local character. Webbed toes. Strange music in the background. (Duelling Banjoes, I think.) Made me feel quite homesick! A pub I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a pint or two and a laugh with new friends.

Nice village. Stayed there a few days ago, not bad at all though the beer was in a bit of a turmoil. Excellent blues on friday night, all in all a very friendly boozer. Have a word with the chap in the bar corner, been in the village all his life, full of info on the area.

The person that John met, only THOUGHT she was landlady! She left some time ago. Since then the REAL landlady, Liz has made the pub into a warm & welcomming waterhole with fabulous food, accomodation and a constant round of themed entertainments. Try it again John!

Seems to attract the horsey set. Landlady was very snooty at closing. 'We do close at 2.30 you know' spoken with the obligatory plum in the throat. A simple TIME AT THE BAR PLEASE would have sufficed. Another Hall and Woodhouse pub with its attendant crap beer.
