Gastro pub with a large bar area for less formal activities.
Surprised (and delighted) to find Church End Brewery Goat Milk on - a Camra Champion Beer. In perfect condition.

Have just had a really disappointing vegetarian meal here. Two veggie starter options and only one main course.
Was told "we're mainly a fish restaurant" by the waiting staff and yet there was at least duck, chicken, beef, pork, bream, salmon for the meat eaters and yet only risotto (which I personally didn't like and so couldn't eat) for veggies. Is it unreasonable to ask for some variety for non-meat eaters in today's day and age?
The website says it "serves modern English food and seafood from north Norfolk, an unusual twist in landlocked Hertfordshire." and food websites call it a "Gastropub" - neither of which would tell me it was mainly a fish restaurant...
For a restaurant that is locally thought highly of, I'm really disappointed.
Pub-wise, the fact dogs are accepted in the bar is good.

Well kept beers kept by John Anderson of Lytton arms fame . Good dood , fish and chips recommended !!

Serves decent beer and Aspalls Cider but you can't help feeling that the bar is just the waiting room for the restaurant

Good for a meal, not for drinking.
Have your food then leave for a proper pub.

The restaurant bit seems to appeal to the all year suntanned, time sharing, white trousererd and gold belted brigade but nevertherless it is a decent place for a drink (I have never eaten there) with well kept beer and much better than it was previously. I believe they also have a few hotel rooms.

Having visited twice, this is a good local pub/restaurant that clearly knows what it is doing. My wife and I ate there very recently and had a good time. Not exactly a "Ye Olde-worlde" pub that some look for, but perfect for a special meal.

Very good transformation from a below average village boozer to a great country pub and restaurant. Excellent food and atmosphere. Great place for sunday lunch but need to book first (always a good sign).

A real transformation from when this used to be the poor relation to the Horseshoes. First time I've been there since geteing married at the church next door. Wherry was very good - looked very restauranty.

Pub food doesn't get much better. Very smart, clean pub in a beautiful village. Food is a twist on the traditional, the Cod and Chips was out of this world. Beats JC's new place in Harpenden (White Horse) hands down

The Fox public house at Willian is under new ownership. The bar has been transformed into a smart, friendly drinking area and the dining area is being designed and refurbished into a 65 seat restaurant.
Listed in CAMRA.
