Wharf Inn, Welfordback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Consistently good beer on recent stop-offs from the A14, despite (I think) change of licensee. Very traditional and pleasant atmosphere (well behaved children). Pedigree good, but some interesting guests as well. Good snacks.

Not quite as nice as the Royal Oak down the road in Naseby (strangely not listed on here). But still a nice old building in a canalside setting. A good range of beers and ciders included Burton Bridge Sovereign Gold, Warwickshire Bottoms Up, Greene King Old Speckled Hen, Marstons Pedigree & Burton Bitter plus Westons Old Rosie. The curved brick bar is naturally the focal point. Food seemed popular. Clientele were a mixture of locals, including dog walkers and canal barge folk. Music was on low and the TV was off. A nice enough pub to warrant a return visit at some point in future.

Quite justifiably included in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide of 2008.

Superbly located but otherwise average riverside pub. Banks beer OK, outide area shabby (pheasant nailed to a pole put me off as well !). Food looked good.

Now included in the latest edition of CAMRA's "Good Beer Guide".

Excellent food, good beer, convivial atmosphere, canal-side location, big garden. Open all day. 8/10.

I'm amazed at DILLY5's review (below). I last visited the Wharf on 30th June 2006 (with my 70+-year-old parents) and, as always, enjoyed excellent beer, first-class pub grub, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere.
The strength of feeling in DILLY5s review makes it plain that (s)he must have had a less than satisfactory experience here. However, in over 2 years of regular visits to the Wharf, I can honestly say that I have always had friendly and attentive service, well-kept beer and good / inexpensive food. Guess well have to agree to differ

An excellent village pub by a marina at the end of the Welford Arm of the Grand Union Canal. New licensees have transformed this pub over the past 18 months. We are always made to feel extremely welcome by the courteous and friendly bar staff.
The food is varied, freshly-cooked, well prepared and inexpensive.
There are 2 regular real ales, Bank's Bitter and Marstons Pedigree, plus 3 regularly-changing guest ales and frequent beer festivals.
Children are welcome in the non-smoking restaurant area and there's a large, peaceful garden - ideal for summer evenings.
Popular with walkers, cyclists, bargees, tourists, locals, families and real ale enthusiasts.
My one regret is that I'm only able to visit this pub once a month, when in the area.
