Best atmosphere of any place in Kendal, wish we'd found it before the last night! 4 real ales on, interesting selection and of good quality

Nice open plan bar area with cosy corners. Warm and lively atmosphere with a good mix of clientele - all ages. Didn't eat but the food is recommended others. A nice bar in nice surroundings.

apparently there is an upstairs bar with real ale. However, I asked at the downstairs bar for cask ale and they never mentioned it. Grrrrr!

No real ale at all now

Made a return visit, and soon wished that I hadn't. Only one real ale on sale, and the place had been taken over by the local middle-class mob,one of whom had a little brat by the name of Jasper! There were very young children, running all over the place. The H&S people would have had a field-day.Very nice lass behind the bar,and the beer was excellant, but what happened yesterday, should never be allowed.

The bar is staffed with a good number at the weekends. the food is the usual frozen prepared microwave/fryer ordeal. During the day its got its crowd of single mothers because the grounds allow the little gutter snips to run around.

As mentioned in previous comments it can get very hot in here, its not good when you have spent nearly 2 hours making yourself look and smell gorgeous to end up with sweat pouring off you and your hair stuck to your head, kinda ruins the rest of the night! I also wouldn,t recommend eating in the green room unless you have plenty of time, we have been there twice and both times the service was painfully slow even though there were staff stood around doing nothing. I,ll end on a positive note, in the summer live bands play in the beer garden (weather permitting)and its well worth going along.

The Brewery has several bars which usually sell up to 6 good real ales. The food is good especially the pizza's. It is very popular with the local crowd and will usually be busy on a weekend or during holidays, so if you want to eat then get here early. The main bar can get very hot in summer due to the building having no air conditioning but this is compensated for by a large garden area with tables and shades. For those who don't like noise then there is a second bar, the theatre bar downstairs which is quieter. I have to agree with previous commentators though that the bar manager and restarant manager need a serious kick up the proverbial, There are usually about half a dozen members of staff behind the vats bar at the weekend but only half of them seem to do any work.

The beer is usually good here with plenty of choice 5 or 6 real als normally. The food is good.......if you get it, the sevice is atrocious. I gave up on this place after the fourth consecutive time my order was cocked-up. This can range from anything to not getting your food at all when you are waiting to go to the cinema despite several enquiries and several assurances that it's on its way. (Finally with 5 minutes to go before the film an apology of oh sorry we'll do it now). Or of course theres the regular overcharges on drink prices. Then you get the starters and main courses being brought to your table together. Or the humble 40 minute wait at a pre-booked table in the Green Room before the waitress even asks you what you'd like only to be told that the all of the main courses that we wanted and had been eying hungrily for 40 minutes were sold out. The Brewery deserves an accolade for combining the worst possible Bar and Resteraunt managers ever known.

One slight caveat having now visited the Brewery for a year. At its best, the Brewery is very pleasant indeed: the outdoor area is very useful and attractive; the pizzas are so much better than Zeffirellis in Ambleside (and Kendal turned down a Pizza Express!); there can be 6 beers including 3 changing guests. But at its worst, there can often be merely 3 rather dull beers or even, on one occasion, none; the bar can be stiflingly hot; the muzak too loud for conversation; and they can run out of cheese (a pizzeria with no cheese!). I do hope these problems can be ironed out and I hope the Brewery made financially secure for the future.

This is a busy Arts Centre with a busy bar and small restaurant attached (very good pizzas are available in both). The beer varies but there are between 3 and 6: regulars being Jennings Cumberland Ale, Yates Bitter and (I think) Black Sheep but there can be three further guests. To eat in the bar on a Friday or Saturday evening one needs to arrive early. In summer the split level outside area is very pleasant. The Brewery runs the risk of being the obvious place to go in Kendal.
