Red Lion, Wendleburyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
First visit to this pub last night. What a gem of a building; a proper, old-style pub with none of that leather sofa and fat candle nonsense. Roaring log fire (first of the winter) and classic country pub decor. Unfortunately, they had just run out of draft beers (!), so I had to make do with bottled, but the Wychwood brews on offer were a good substiitute. Struck up conversation with some regulars, who were very friendly. Must try the food next time and report back.

Me and my partner took over the Red Lion in Wendlebury 6 weeks ago. We have made significant changes since then and have had nothing but praise from our locals. We offer a menu of freshly prepared home cooked (no microwaves!) at competitive prices and serve well kept real ales such as Doom bar, Spitfire and Black Sheep. We have a large garden with childrens play area and pigs and chickens. We are an extremely family orientated pub as we have children of our own and know how hard it can be to find somewhere suitable to eat. We hope you will forget past reviews and give us a try!!

At 8.95 for a roast I expected something half decent! This would have to go down as one of the worst roast dinners my husband and I have ever had. The beef was tough, the roast potatoes were to salty and very hard, the yorkshire pudding was tasteless. We feel most of this meal was from the freezer as there was certainly no taste. A lovely little pub but the food totally let it down, The Landlord hardly went overboard with customer service skills either! We wont be going back, thats for sure!

A really enjoyable local pub. The pub has 3 separate rooms, the main bar, cottage and restruant was was extremley clean I Visited the Red Lion today for the first time and had the Mixed Grill at 15.95 it was a little pricy and consisted of a 5oz Rump Steak, Pork Steak, 2 pork sausages, A gammon steak, Fried egg. Mushrooms, Onion rings, chips and a beaufifully presented mixed salad. The meat was succulant and of extremely good quality, the staff were friendly. Not a place I'll go daily (price only putting me off) but I am definately returning. I loved the mixed grill one of the best I've tasted.

Very nice pub but suffers with a tiny bar that the locals insist on crowding around preventing any decent access. The new landlord is a hotelier as well I believe. Food is exceptional and the bar food/pizzas are very good as well. Food is a bit pricey. Beer isn't cheap but it is good. Better without the pool table now. Can get a bit too smokey in the main bar. Huge beer garden but under utilised. A generally very good all round proper English pub. Bar staff can let it down on occasion as some don't speak English too well.
