Visited a friend at the weekend, felt like a beer and ended up here. Both surprised....in a good way. This was described by my local friend as a bikers pub and therefore he hadn't been there for some time. Turns out the pub has new owners (well been there for 10 months or so as informed by the welcoming and friendly pub landlord). This pub serves a crisp and cold pint...COLD! Pool table, darts and the footy...result! Biggest surprise was the menu, kangaroo, water buffalo and indian cuisine. This water buffalo got served u[p with a stone hot brick which you can cook to your own taste. Genius and tasted amazing. Outcome, I'll be back when I next visit and my friend has found himself a new local.

I agree with the review below. I also stumbled across this pub on my way to Bicester and my did it take me by surprise. It does not look like much from the outside but its definitely work a visit! The ribs are amazing and the mogo chips (casava apparently) we beautiful. K the landlord was an amiable chap and took time to explain the menu. There is a perfectly levelled pool table which my kids played on while we sat back and enjoyed our food. Most importantly it seems like they take time to clean their pipes properly!!! I have been in many a pub where the pints have that awful sour taste about them. Not here though! The lager is clean and crisp, and also when it says "cold" on the tap it actually IS cold!!! This important fact makes this a top pub in mu book!

Its interesting reading the reviews here - and also to note nothing recent has come up!
This weekend we stumbled upon the Plough Inn whilst driving through Arncott. We were looking for somewhere to eat and this was the first place we stumbled upon. And if ever the term "don't judge a book by its cover" was ever appropriate it is here. On the outside it looks like a standard village pub, similarly inside what you would expect - but what you do not expect is the food the food is something really really special. The landlord is a most amiable chap fondly named K who really welcomed us in, the locals were also incredibly friendly! The menu boasted a rather exotic range from traditional Indian food to Water buffalo, Kangaroo and Ostrich! My wife and I shared some ribs as a starter and I cannot describe how good they were, just try them! I then had a chicken curry and my wife had the water buffalo with mogo chips (which I had never heard of before). All of which was simply excellent, I was blown away unfortunately we do not live near to this pub but next time we are in the area I will for sure be visiting again thoroughly recommend anyone to stop by and try!

This pub is now open again. Be interesting to see if it stays that way !!
|
Unfortunately this pub is now boarded up and looks like closed for good. Shame.
|
The pub appears to be open however the landlord is certainly not customer friendly and I suspect the place will not stay open long.
|
It would seem that this pub could have reached the end of the road as its now up for sale for 300,000 + VAT, and seems to be closed during the day.
Whether or not it has a viable trade to be profitable is doubtful with the changing demographic situation ( Most of the soldiers from the local MOD site next to it, and who used it have now gone ).
Shame though if another pub closes

New management and the pub looks like attracting a different market.
Now has music playing, soft rock type, but was not intrusive, 2 well kept real ales and the 2 pints of Hobgoblin I had yesterday were excellent. Not tried the food but a reasonably varied menu.
Good seating area with well kept grounds. Worth a visit and hope the new team is sucessful.

Friendly staff with standard bar food at a reasonable price. Usually has one real ale on on, usualy selection for the larger boys..

This friendly pub has had a complete refurbishment and re opened in September 2007, and now looks brilliant. The Landlady, Dee and her partner Keith are polite and friendly. The bar staff are polite and efficient. Their new menu has good wholesome home cooked food on it. With the average price around 6 for a decent meal. They serve smashing fresh coffee.
They have great regular live music, pool and darts. Well worth going. Drinks prices are average for the area.

Recently modernised ( end of August 2007 )
Unfortunately for the likes of myself, seems still very much "downmarket" with the pool table still dominating the main pub. Wonder what clientele they're aiming for?
Beer was VERY expensive at 2.90 a pint !!
