This pub is probably the oldest building in Carterton, having started life as a "colonial" style general store known as The Emporium. There were three real ales on tap at the time of my visit. The pub is now called "The Golden Eagle".

This pub seemed to be full of very undesireable characters. The atmosphere was in fact very intimidating. I will never set foot in there again.

A great pub that has been refurbished and changed back to its former name of The Golden Eagle. 5 T.V's wich show different sports including 3D. It now has a Family side/eating area and an over 18s only side. Food is excellent and is packed out any given day of the week. Beer is of good quality and a varied range. The landlady and staff are a great team and always welcoming and have a laugh with customers. There are many servicemen in this pub but they blend and mix with the civillian patrons with ease. Never expierenced any trouble. Great pub for families in carterton area or for people to meet the locals etc.

This "rough as badgers" pub, as it was described in the previous post, has now been re-branded as "The Golden Eagle".

Rough as badgers indeed. Stood for ages waiting for a drink and just git ignored, this happened on several occasions. Dirty glasses and sticky carpet.

Very smokey and a bit dirty. Glasses not particularly clean either. A local pub (everyone turns to look at who's entering) - Rough as a badgers....
