Chequers, Brize Nortonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Used to visit this pub very frequently, until that is, the current surely, rude lanlord took over. He, and his staff, make you feel like it's an imposition to serve you. Large dog wandering around the premises too, whilst food being served! Not been in since! Shame really because the Sunday carvery was excellent.....

When I retired, a good few years ago, I decided to find a Pub or Restaurant where I could eat good food and be comfortable at least three times a week. I discovered that the Chequers was a very good pub which served really good food. The standard of the food and the presentation has gradually reached such a level that I now consider it to be a restaurant, which also sells a wide variety of drinks. The Staff are cheerful, patient and helpful, particularly to the elderly. All of the food is freshly prepared in their own kitchen so some dishes will obviously take a while to prepare. There is an extensive printed menu and also 8 to 10 vegitarian options. Plus a very popular two course Seniors menu. The superb, two sittings at the Sunday carvery of 3 roasts carved in front of you and complimented by no less than eight vegetable dishes means that booking is advisable. This is a self sevice menu on a Sunday ordered from the bar. This pub deserves to thrive in these difficult times, which is why I give it my full support.

really don't understand the fuss. I was in a party of 5 and we honestly couldn't complain about a single thing. M son and the other 2 children had a great time in the safe clean play area. And one of the children is autistic and we rung up prior to our visit and the staff catered for him perfectly. The kids eat for a 1 with a free icecream. Plus they have toys inside too. Great time was had by all. Lovely atmosphere great service!!!!!!

Food is O.K. (although maybe a little expensive for what you get) but they do not know what "customer services"mean.
Last time I visted there was a busy Sunday afternoon and my family and I were made to wait for 20mins for a table, for well over half an hour for the food to turn up then after 15mins of being served they asked us to leave "A.S.A.P. " as the table was booked for other customers!!
There's also a big fluffy dog walking and barking around inside the restaurant. I asked the owner if dogs were allowed inside then the owner dared to say: "No. Only MY dog. I own the place. It's MY pub I do what I like." Unbelievable.
Will never go back ther again!!

It's OK. Good car park, that's as far as it goes. Staff are less than efficient

Food ain't as good as I expect - mediocre and only 'OK' service. Been there several times and will avoid repeat visits unless for a drink on a sunny day - there are 'outside' areas to suit.
Friendly staff, place has atmosphere. Expensive food for what they serve.
