There's barely ever anybody in here. Last time we went for what was supposed to be quiz night, IIRC, and we were the only ones there. There wasn't even anyone at the bar!
I can't see it lasting long unless someone sorts it out.

What a lovely pub! Superb decor and friendly staff making for a really warm atmosphere. We ate here last night - I had a really tasty slow roasted belly pork and mash; my wife had a salad. Both very good. Obviously the Hooky tasted great. Well worth a visit.

Whoops - correction I forgot to look on the last page for Ye Olde Raine Deer. Sorry folks - you can read my report anyway if you care to.

First visit for a long time - wow! what a change. I didn't think Hook Norton Brewery went in for this type of bar (it's not a pub any more). Wednesday evening and only 4 people in but I would expect it does get busier at other times. Beer (Hook Norton of course) was OK if not spectacular (Try Ye Olde Reine Deer in Parsons Street - which for some reason is not in the BITE list for Banbury - for really good Hooky Beer and a genuine old interior). Obviously going for a totally different market from before (which actually may not be such a bad thing after all)

In general The Coach and Horses is a decent pub. The high stools and tables are a bit naff but the decor is a lot better than it was before the refit. When the sun is out, the little courtyard out the back of the pub is a great sun trap. We've had one duff pint at the end of a barrel in 2 years. The menu has been cut down dramatically since they opened and it is a shame that they stopped doing seasonal specials. It's not exciting but the food is tasty and there's a lot of it. If you ask nicely, they will turn down the music which is usually a bad selection of golden oldies.

went in Saturday asked for a pint of Mild seeing as Hooky have just released a new mild EDM, ....no mild not even Hooky Dark.....had a pint of Bitter obviously the end of the barrell went back up bitter not back on yet, asked for a pint of 303, which resulted in a glass of foam ...Yes that barrell had gone as well, so here we are on a saturday evening Two pumps out of four out of action, bad planning by management or just bad luck on my part

I like what has been done to this pub, it did have a pretty bad clientele but the sympathetic refurbishment has cleared out most of the bad apples. The beer is Hook Norton and served reasonably well, if a little pricey. However its town centre. All in all worth a visit for the ale drinker especially given the lack of good ale pubs in Banbury

The refurbishment in here has worked very well, it does feel modern, but not over the top. Serves cask and bottled Hook Norton ales, the food is building a good reputation, it is light and airy, a much needed improvement which places it into the Banbury top 4 pubs.

Very modern pub which clearly has had a lot of work done to it - didn't detract from the ambience though. Good range of Hook Norton beers and the two I had were very good

Nice to see a pub re-open in Banbury when so many seem to be closing down at the moment. Nice decor and beer ok. All the pub's in the Town Centre are pricey now days and this is no exception though not as expensive as some.
|
Refurbishment complete and reopened, modern smart interior and good sized outdoor coutyard Hook Norton Draught Ales on tap [of course] though a bit pricey.reasonable menu avaiable all in all worth a look
|
closed for refurbishment at the moment

Hook Norton house ....beer quality a bit hit and miss....whenever i have been in its bee either heaving or dead ...depending on the entertainment....

Hook Norton pub in the centre of town. Genuine Irish feel with Live Music, of the country & Western ilk, often at weekends. The beer is variable, but the feel of the pub is constant. Always busy, worth a try.
