Absolutely kicking pub last Friday, full of happy people singing along to the comedy keyboard player and having a whale of a time.Superbly located by the river with friendly barstaff and locals.A fantastic end to my evening.

Very pleasantly refurbished, with friendly service and a choice of (non Greede King)n guest beers; Okell's Bitter from the IoM was excellent

Another pub recently had a make-over. Really nice pub in a lovely location. Quite small, but good few beers on tap as well as plenty of other choices. Food is good. Definitely worth a visit

Decent pub with a lovely view across the quiet road out onto the river Thames and Abingdon bridge. Unfortunately there is no beer garden by the river (just a small yard taken up by the smokers !), but this pub is in a lovely peaceful location next to St.Helens church. Inside is a fairly traditional interior with plenty of comfortable seating. There were four real ales available when I visited, Batemans XXXB and Everards Tiger as guests and Morland Original and GK IPA as regulars. The IPA and Carlsberg are both available for 1.99 a pint as part of a 'credit crunch' promotion. I noticed the pub closes during the afternoons (apart from saturday) and does not open until 6pm on a monday. Seems as though food is served most lunchtimes and evenings. They have a quiz evening every thursday and occasional live music. This is a decent pub to relax in and have a conversation away from the boisterousness of many of Abingdon's other town centre pubs.

Excellent pub in an interesting town. Good food and ale. What a pity you can't tie your boat up outside.
|
Nice pub in a great loaction, but a shame you can't sit ouside the front to fully enjoy the river view. The Morland ale was bland on the day we visited, but overall it's worth a visit.

Well served beer. Stock whatever guest beers Green King will allow. Enjoyed Abbot Reserve.

Well Abingdon has changed since I lived there. Doubt whether the loss of the brewery has improved things (in fact GW seem to have cast their brand image spell on many of their acquisitions).
T'was a wonderful place twenty years ago. Now just another bland boozer. What a shame.

Good old fashioned local pub. The addition of (pretty good) draught Strongbow has made this pub even better.
If you want a pub with quiet music, an older average customer than most places in Abingdon, and a friendly atmosphere, try The Old Anchor.
