Fine pub. Unspoilt, characterful and friendly. Good range of ales and food was excellent for the price. Recommended.

Very busy on a late Sunday afternoon both inside and out with TVs showing the World Cup in the bar and what sounded like karaoke booming out from an adjoining room. Four ales on, Wychwood Full Brazilian which tasted sharp and may have been on the way out, and Hobgoblin and Marstons Burton Bitter, a good drinkable session beer, and New World. None of the other pubs close by appeared to be busy probably because all the customers appeared to be at this one.

All the ingredients for a brilliant pub, but simply have got it wrong. Indifferent ale, small portions of food, and a telly in every bloody bar, when surely you only need to do this in one. Particularly bad the one by the open fire.

Staff were friendly enough though!

Marks are abot spot on

Was very loud when we visited, private party I think, but the restaurant was much quieter and the food was superb. Ale pretty good too.

Had a very good pint of Godiva whilst sitting outside, as has been said, not a fantastic pub but worth a look.

Very slow service, confrontational waitress, extremely poor quality food - burnt saute potatoes, failure to supply food as described on menu board.

Properly nice dining area out the back and the food is cracking. Loud on a Friday and Saturday if you are after a boogie but a good place to take the missus for a meal during the week.

A much underrated pub in my opinion. Yes it is the local lads pub with TV screens dotted around, but it is big enough to cope with this with plenty of quiet corners around. There are 3 real Ales usually on, fairly standard, but in reasonable nick. It is always friendly and welcoming and comfortable. Its a reasonable pub rather being a must visit, but definitely worth a look if you are in the town.
