Nice location next to the Oxford Canal. What is not so nice is only GK brews with no guest ale policy

Seems to have recently changed hands - was completely dead and smelt rather weird - staff were warm but you sense the place has gone down market a tad but lets see as it was a good place to eat.

Great location on the canal with no through traffic etc. Can be tricky to park, pub is old and the bar is proper enough, friendly staff overall food is good with a decently experimental specials board. Chef is totally anti using pickle on his ploughmans tho which is a good spread but deperately lacking this key ingredient. Might say something about the chef when he believes pickle is too low brow for his 'ploughmans' - my advice is take your own and leave the jar so he is overrun with the stuff as a subtle campaign...
beer is good but its heavy brewery owned fare even the seemingly 'guest' ales are usually just other brewery brands so whilst well kept it all tastes the same

went in a few days ago superb Haddock and chips. Very friendly staff and a very enjoyable evening.

This is a friendly welcoming pub with well kept beer. The main bar could do with brightening up, very bland, and poorly laid out. Food can be hit and miss, had one great m eal there while the next was truly awful. The staff were very apologetic but , as they were well aware that they had sent out burnt food, I had lttle time for the excuses. Good pint though!

A pleasant enough pub right by the Oxford Canal. Limited menu. The pub was up for sale when we visited so I suspect there was something of a lack of interest.

We were on a canal boat and headed for this pub last Friday. The hireboat company told us the Jolly Boatman (nearby) was better for food, and the Boat best for ale. Weather was cold and damp so we went straight for the Boat which had limited free mooring space. How very nice this pub is. Warm and friendly in every way. Very pleasant manager and bar staff, and lots of pleasant people enjoying the evening. One local told us that new management took over last month (September)and that the place was really looking up. Couldn't fault the place. Very well kept beer (Morrells and Brakespears as the guest ales in this Greene King pub) and an excellent menu. Food was lovely and not over expensive. Super place. Can throroughly recommend it.

Nice looking pub on the Oxford canal at the end of the terrace of houses which makes up the classic canal houses of Thrupp. The bar is pleasant enough although the snug is cosier. Nice garden out the back. Real ales are reasonably kept and can include ones from interesting breweries, but not always. The food is good but a bit on the pricey side. Service is good and ythe landlord (who I am sure is actually Rod Stewart!) is attentive.
