In the Beer Guide but no real on - not sure of pub's status. Apart from that, a good, basic town local.

Fairly basic pub that looks like it's geared to the big screen sports / pools table / disco / karaoke market. If that's not your scene, still worth a visit early on because the beer's only 2.40 a pint :-)

Great pub at weekends, can get a bit squashed if good bands are playing on fridays/ saturdays. Enjoyable pub - and many age groups there, bar staff are very quick to see people waiting, just a pity they dont update their jukebox more for when they havent got bands playing. See Sharon Harris (landlady) to find out whats on soon!!

Amazing atmosphere , saw GERTCHA , believe or not a Chas and Dave tribute. They were better than the real thing and just blew the audience away. Everybody dancing on tables ,chairs , singing , amazing how many younger people there. Great sound , light show and the knee`s up was great. See Sharon the guv`ness to see when they r back.

Something a bit different, looked like a pool tournament going on when I was there. Fairly raucous (but unthreatening) atmosphere.
My ale OK (think it was Courage). Found the music a bit loud, inside a bit darknot my bag but can see it appealing to others.
Impressive edifice from the outside, tiled and imposing.
Not too bad, may pop in again at some point.

OK decent pub, I was visiting Basingstoke the other day. I was on my own and thought I would pop in here. Good clean pub, cheap food athlough I didnt eat any. If I ever was back in town I would pop back in for a few jars.

Must say i havent used this pub in a while and found myself pleasantly surprised when i went in for a pool night. Loved the new decor of the pub. The loos were imaculate and very clean. Not how i remember this pub. Yes it is a bit squashed around the pool tables and we found one of them to be higher than the norm. Well done the inn players you beat us fair and square. The evening was pleasant enough until a young girl arrived and spent the whole night shouting. Loud people i can cope with but I do have a whinge. When you put money in the juke box you expect to be able to listen to what you pay for. The barmaid ejected songs so the loud gob could play her music. Excuse me? Apart from that. Well done for the new layout and cleaness of the pub.

more room needed around the pool tables can get very squashed up there on pool nights. Great pub tho definitely worth a visit. Not eaten in there yet. Been to a couple of the tribute bands in there. Can get a little too packed on these evenings . Arrive early if you want a seat

I wrote a bad comment about this pub last year which was totally out of order. Really it was just a joke as a friend of mine had just bought a pub and wanted to big up her pub and run all the other pubs down. I have to say I absolutely love this pub. I am in there regularly for karaoke, disco and pool nights. Also myself and my partner eat there often. Stuart and Sharon are the perfect hosts. They mix well with the customers but they also don't take any shit. I am so sorry for what I wrote on here and hope my regular custom makes up for the comments

A great friendly pub; much improved from times of old. Went the other week for the karaoke X-Factor type final and the atmosphere was brilliant. Plenty of drunk people but not even a hint of trouble. Top landlady too.......

I think this is a great pub, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting and everyone seems to have a fab time. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone. The tribute bands are a real treat and certainly add a bit of excitement to saturday nights in Basingstoke

A wonderful asset to the Basingstoke pub network, I have been in here a few times recently and had great experiences everytime. Friendly staff, smashing beer and some top notch music. Well done to the new owners on a great accomplishment.

I dont know what the problem is with some of these people. They cant have gone into the same pub as me??? There is nothing wrong with this boozer AT ALL. Its alot better than most of the shit pubs around this area.... and the happy hours are quality.... 2 a pint is unbeatable! I think the people/person that is writing the bollocks about the pub and people are obviosly gelous of the sucsess its become. Oh well.... chin up!!

it appears that should anything positive be said about this pub the usuall comment back is that its the management/staff writing it.. I think if you stop being so vindictive you would realise that the customers that go to the new inn are satisfied with the services, beer and entertainment and are loyal enough to be able to WANT to write REAL/TRUE comments about there local pub. I drink in a few of the pubs around the town area and drink in the new inn on the weekends I have never witnessed the trouble that has been mentioned or had to wait too long to be served. I appreciate that the new inn may not be your cup off tea but to bad mouth it in such a spitful way only shows that you obviously have a grudge or point to prove. You can carry on spending time writing your anon posts but old and new customers will continue to visit this place even more so now you have made such a reputation for it.

Interesting to note that many of the personally abusive posts aimed at The New Inn and its staff are from an 'anonymous' user. Perhaps if this venue upsets you so much you should leave some helpful comments instead of malicious insults.
I enjoy my nights out in this pub and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a personal, lively atmosphere!
Well done The New Inn Basingstoke.

I drink in the new inn on a regular basis and the crap i've read is unbelievable. The landlord and landlady are the most friendlist people you would ever meet. The are always smiling and will make sure you are having a good nite... i have never left the new inn thinking i have had a bad night i always leave smiling... i dont believe anything bad written bout this place... they have NO trouble and the door staff are always on the ball... You should come along and witness the fun and laughter for yourself I guarentee you wont leave dissapointed...

I don't know if the people writing some of these comments are talking about the New Inn that I go into or matbe they are stuck in a timewarp back to the time of the previous management. There is no other pub like the New Inn, the management put in so much effort to ensure that there is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with great live entertainment and fun evening thrown into the mix. As for the food, we all know pub food is usually microwaved garbage but not at the new in their homemade food menuis excellent and the chef prepares your meal to your order. The curry nights on Wednesdays are a hit and for those who haven't tried it a fantastic breakfast is served from 9am everyday. Don't take my word for it come down give it a try there usually entertainment on a Friday and Saturday evening, I am sure Sharon and Stuart will make you feel welcome. For all those slagging one of the best pubs in Basingstoke at least have the guts to leave your name you cowards.
|
There is now actually a computer terminal in the New Inn, which allows all the customers to post comments at their leisure. This is a further example of the levels that the management have gone to in an effort to ensure the environment is a good as humanly possible to all the consumers. It is a pity that small minded individuals with an axe to grind use a forum such as this to vent their pent up angers over their one insufficiencies

Probably the best pub in the world
|
ive just read some of the comments on this site and its all lies this is a warn lively pub its gone through lots of changes from a dark dingy studet pub to a bright happy fun pub the beer is good and the food is all home made and fresh the staff are bubbly and always willing to help the place is always clean and tidy and they serve the biggest roast ive ever eaten
|
These people on this web page are full of shit. Ive been in the new inn p;ub many times and had the best night of my life. The decor is modern and clean. Ive never seen cleaner toilets and belive me that does matter. The food is homebaked and fresh. The staff are friendly and polite. They sure do know how look after their customers

I visited this pub last weekend and I was appaulled by the atmosphere, language and god knows what else was going on in there. The landlord was having an argument with a big bloke who was shouting and swearing and Ive heard this happens on a regular basis. There was men popping in and out and passing over money to a man in there that could barely stand up. Deffinetly a pub to stay away from!!

I have been informed that it has seen a revamp. New paintwork and fittings. I have yet to visit myself to view the improvements.
