Not a terrible pub, but not great. Full of TOWIE girls and identikit Essex blokes, perma-tanned and 'sleeve' tattooed whose frequent visits to the toilets would raise an eyebrow on even the most Botoxed of brows. Annoyingly narrow in places means that getting to the bar is a chore, they do, however, have plenty of staff when it's busy.
That said, if you can escape the throng, there's a decent beer garden and a couple of pockets where it's possible to have a breather away from the Essex Illuminati. Oh, and it's a Tottenham pub, so take a point off for that.

Popped in on a Thursday evening and couldn't get to see what ales were on as the locals guarded the bar with antagonizing glares and folded arms, even though there were dozens of seats available. When I did get to the bar was able to observe their wide selection of shit lagers and two ales (Doombar and Timothy Taylor)
Supped our drinks while two white-van drivers swore across the bar to each other, and a couple of botox casualties compared their orange tans.

Three Colts was a famous execution site before capital punishment was abolished in Buckhurst Hill in 2008. Three live colts were actually used for executions, with the condemned being mounted on the animals nooses around their necks. A hand-bell signalled the horses to gallop, unseating their doomed riders, as crowds of ale drinkers looked on.
The gallows have gone, but the establishment remains, as do the three colts, who are stabled at the rear of the pub. They still rear-up and bolt around the yard when the landlord rings the bell for 'time' and a chilling thwack of tensing ropes can be heard on nights when the wind is low and westerly.
Today, its a nawty little boozer. A good place to meet 'chimneys' before hitting the Golden Mile. Oos Calling it on?

Unbelievably busy when I popped in here at 6pm on a Saturday. Throbbing. Football etc. Worth a visit

nice country type feel....expensive but so is the whole area

Visited this pub recently on a Saturday lunchtime to watch Sky Football after many years. I used to live just around the corner! The first thing that struck me was that they didn't serve any food, very unusual these days and not welcome as we were hungry! The second thing that struck me was they allowed some Chinese men to mingle in the pub to sell their fake DVD's - 3 Chinese men at 3 separate times to be precise, and we were only they for 90 minutes! Apart from that, service was friendly and beer okay and we won in the football which was the best thing about the experience. Oh, and kids are allowed in the bar because one man watched the football in fron of us with his young son!

This is a good pub with decent staff and lively yet polite regulars. It has an over 23s policy, unless with a parent, and no children are allowed in the actual bar area.
The drinks selection is not the most imaginative with Bombardier and Greene King IPA being the ales of choice alongside a standard draught selection. That said, my pint of Bombardier was very nice and I was served promptly even though the pub was busy with the Lions match which was being shown on Sky on the three screens in the pub.
The front of the pub is quite cramped as the bar protrudes quite close to the front wall, but a short shimmy to the left will afford more drinking space. There is a sunken games room at the rear that has a pool table and a dart board which are overlooked by a big projector screen. There is also a beer garden out the back which was hosting a BBQ whilst I was there.
I really liked this pub and I would have no hesitation in returning.

Nice little drinker. few people like to have a good drink early doors on saturday but a very tidy little boozer. have a few liveners in here before hitting the playa's lounge.

Great pub on a Friday night. Very good atmosphere, nicely busy with very capable and polite staff. Brilliant selection of music on the jukebox. Highly recommended.

Tried to visit yesterday (Monday) lunchtime but it was closed (not permanently).

Great pub - fantastic atmosphere - especially on Fridays - great bar staff - good pub quiz on Sunday - great clientele - all in all a real local gem.

Super place for a relaxing beer and a chat. Difficult to find local gems like this.

Absolutely lovely place which is full of character and bereft of anti-socials. A whole load better than anywhere else in the neighbourhood. Fresh beer and ale served in clean glases with a gentle smile.

nice pub, nice bar staff, decent clientele.

A superb pub with spadefuls of character. This pub has been fantastic from time to time -- depending on the landlord. The new landlady (Oct 06) is extremely pleasant and has done an ok job of tarting up some of the place except for the new sofas which just don't go. It's over 23's but there's often children running about. the toilets are disgusting. This could be one of the best pubs in the country with the right management.

Nice place, no music, smallish but decent for a local.

Great little country pub within 5 minutes walk of a tube station (can't think of many pubs that would fit that description). Has excellent real-ale, a beer garden, a pool room, and just a small scattering of locals make for a very relaxing evening. The antithesis of the orange-MG driving-Chigwell bridgade "Blue Monday" on Queen's Road.
