This place is now called Papa Js and it is an Indian Tapas restaurant and bar. It has been very sleekly fitted out and still retains a small bar area serving up Fosters, Stella, Carlsberg, Guinness, John Smiths Smooth and London Pride (which was off on my visit).
I spotted 3 plasma screens that were showing Sky News and there were a couple of people dotted around drinking coffee and using the wireless internet that is available.
If the food is good it would be a great place to go for a ruby and a beer, but I wouldnt bother if I just up for a few jars.

West five now will come the CCJS

Well not a loss, the brothers that ran this place didn't really know what they were doing. They owed money to suppliers and so forth.
The new people have promised a new venture with hidden delights of a Indian Tapas. We will welcome anything better than what it was.
I have spoken to the locals who have said the new venue will be great for the area and indeed better management and customer focus will be needed.
So great stuff, all the best and let the new landlords may they continue with the success where the other two failed.

Was nice up until a year ago. Around that time the two guys that used to be behind the bar (think they are co-owners) hired some bar staff with no personality. Used to love the chilled atmos in here and the food is still good, but the atmosphere is now somewhat lacking. Also they only seem to ever have London Pride on (no bad thing, but they used to at least have TT on as well). Usual parade of lager choices, nothing special there.

great food. Interetsting menu wit slight anglo indian theme! I was in the area on business and had been driving around for ages looking for somewhere decent to eat, came across an Italian confused restaurant at first which realy needs an Italian chef, or atleast someone who can boil pasta with out ruining a dish. I soon moved on from Pregos in Kew where i bumped into the chef in the toilets and have to say i could not finish my dish after meeting him!!! (enough said)
However was very happy when i found this pub, welcoming and very contemporary in design.

Came last sunday for a meal with friends and have to say not very good. Staff friendly, beer ok

Dear god one the best sunday roast i have ever had! At first i was shocked at the price but my knowledgeable waiting staff advised me to comment on it after i had ate. I stood corrected!! Th beef was tender and the roast potatoes were not FROZEN. The food was complimented by one of the best pints of Timothy Taylors Landlord i have ever had someone knows how to look after their cellar!!
I recommend this place!!

Nice pub, very wooden. Bar staff friendly. Fosters on tap was warm. Burger is to die for - massive portions.

Like it. Food is reasonably priced and perfectly OK. Bar staff vary from daffy to spot-on, depending on who serves you. Roomy, not smokey (during the day anyway) and quite easy to while away a few hours in. Will be going back.

great new pub no longer a John Barras. Independant company run it now with a great selection of drinks including a long wine list.
Great new chef who changes the menu regulalry with dishes such as sea bass, steak and even pork belly. Definately worth a try.
