A handler's lair.

Re-opened in July, 2011, and is a genuine freehouse.

This pub is available at time of writing on a long lease for 250,000.Is there anyone on the planet that daft ?

This has looked closed up for a few weeks now. Whilst the closure of any pub is to be regretted, it was a complete dive so difficult to mourn too much.

Walked past this the other day and it does look a very rough place. Broken and boarded up windows, a large sign out the front warning about drug taking on the premises and (from what I could see through the window) that very spartan look redolent of a seriously rough pub. I'm afraid I bottled out and didn't go in (quite rare for me where pubs are concerned).

Was about to drop into this place last Friday night for an early pint and the nice weather, but a small crowd had gathered around two pit bull dogs in the beer garden for what looked like.a fight to the death. Why bother? Too many other nice pubs around that seem to avoid the human trash that populates the New Brunswick. Reminds me of The Lord of the Flies -- you can never be surprised what people will do when left to their own devices without adult supervision.

Wanted to like this pub, but on walking in I felt like I'd entered a morgue where only the corpses are drunk. Carpeted interior with a faint smell of formaldehyde. A fistfist [sic] between a guy and his bird later erupted and got ugly when he dragged her out on to the street by the hair. I wish I were joking. It was 3pm on a Saturday. Really ugly scene. I'm giving it two stars because the Stella is cheap (go figure that).

Good pub. Enjoyed last Friday, and plenty of nice girls! I think they got Karaoke this Friday aswell 8:30.

Has reopened under Greene King. Will check in the near future for real ale, etc.
|
In its last few months of operation this pub was dreadful. A generally unpleasant atmosphere prevailed as you walked in, and you would be stared at either by someone after a fight or after the contents of your bag. That was then. Locals can only hope and pray for something better ( if ) it ever reopens. How about the idea of a multi-handpump real ale emporium. Probably got the same chance as Wayne Rooney has of scoring a hat-trick in every single England match and holding up the trophy.

I remember in the early to mid 1990s there was real ale at the Brunswick, sadly management changed and the real ale (albeit Greene King) was removed. With its cessation of handpulled beer, customers like myself had to drink elsewhere when with friends from Archway. The last few years this was rather a pub to pass than to enter, and its reported closure will not be greeted with any sadness, other than the fact that, if managed differently, the pub could have succeeded and earned a better image.

This awful dump is now boarded up and appears to have been permanently laid to rest (as opposed to the boards being up after yet another chair/brick/chav getting thrown through the window). Doesn't appear to be any great loss (apart from chavs and the local glazing firm........)
