It’s the end of an era with “Ronnie” (Veronica) leaving on August Bank Holiday. Current rumours suggest the incoming licensee is taking out the following:
1. Draught Bass 2. Thatchers Cider 3. The Jukebox
Good Luck Sonny, you’ll need it!

I'd heard a lot of good reports of this pub, and had been meaning to try it for a while. It was very quiet on the Monday we visited, with only a handful in the bar and nobody in the conservatory. The beer choice was seemingly very restricted, with just Bass straight from the barrel. There were three hand pumps on the bar, but two had no clip and the third had the clip turned round. Not quite what I was expecting. Neither the Blackthorn or the Traditional were particularly good pints.

The original landlord has let the place and gone to India to live and although the place seems much the same the Bass last time was far too fresh. Prices are creeping up but not as sky high as mainline pubs in Bristol. I still like it but avoid Friday nights when the resident DJ cranky up his wheels of steel and plays decidedly dodgy music.

Fine pint of Bass in a drinkers pub. Friendly enough.

A good pub and a reliable source of real cider as well as good beer.
The only pub I have heard of where the landlord has an ASBO! He has one telling him not to call his car park 'The Porking Yard'. Different sources claim that this either upset users of the mosque next door (but then why has the pork butcher over the road still got his large sign up?) or that teachers from the local school complained after it led to kids making dirty jokes - it seems 'porking' means sex with a prostitute locally.

If like me you loath and despise those ghastly city centre pubs than this pub will be like a breath of fresh air. Tucked away in the side streets at the bottom of the M32 The Swan with Two Necks epitomises the spirit of the great British pub. The pub is a drinking mans dream of a watering hole. Nice traditional decor with wood floors, comfortable seating, cosy atmosphere, friendly welcome and without doubt the best Bass in Bristol served straight from the barrel just as it should be. A visit to Bristol without sampling the delights of the Swan With Two Necks would be a very shallow experience.
