I was expecting this place to be closed. But it was open. Although despite the town centre being busy, I was the only customer in here alongside the 2 staff. The interior is fairly impressive with large booth-type seating. But it felt a little dilapidated. The solitary real ale was Felinfoel Double Dragon, which was ok. With nobody in, the place lacked atmosphere. Not quite sure how or why the gents toilets were in such a state. Disappointing.

Decent beer and a relatively pleasant Victorian interior wasted by listless attention to detail - we did have free rein on the juke box though and the barman and barmaid had no problems with that. Nobody in there of an evening so hard to work out how it keeps going. Could be great and is actually a lot less than that.

the pub actually smells of sick and is always full of drunk inbred rugby students

Good ale, spacious seating and always full to brimming on reclaim the streets night.

Was in Aber in the late '70s and the landlord was a miserable old bugger then - it seems that things haven't changed in the intervening years. Rating based on past experience (but given the comment from Stus.search.4.mild I'm in no hurry to revisit the past)

Real ale - Mansfield cask plus Banks on my last visit which were good, with loud music on a Friday night which was heaving.

When passing through Aberystwyth always stopped off here for a pint of Banks's MILD. On my last visit I noticed the banner across the front of the pub welcoming families. Our family consisting of two children their mother and myself entered but were told the children were not allowed in. When I asked about the banner I was very rudely given some cock and bull story about a 50 year old law that allows him to refuse entry. I now drink Brains MILD in Bar Essential.

A really nice little boozer tucked away just off Pier Street. Lovely fittings and a nice atmosphere, plus music pumped into the bogs which is always a rarified bonus the these here parts.
Banks beer (just like almost every pub in West Wales) and a decent Jukey plus good sunday lunch. Gets very locally on the weekend though, best sampled during the week when it holds court to various Interpol students.
Well worth finding and pulling toward your bosom.
