This is not a pub but an expensive restaurant catering for the moneyed elite. The food is good quality but poor value. There is no ambience. The clientele are distinctly hoorah henry country types - *warning* you may feel you don't belong here. The only thing it has in common with a pub is that you order at the bar - though that doesn't prevent them adding a service charge to the already astronomical bill.

Looks like a lovely place from the outside but dosn't open until 18:00 on a Saturday afternoon so on we went.

Went here Sunday 6th February. Made the drastic mistake of not looking at the menu before ordering a sunday roast. Three roast dinners, two halfs of Fosters and a small coke = 62. They added on 5.85 service charge when there was only three of us. For goodness sake this is a pub not a 4 star restaurant. Daylight robbery!!!

The pub looked very closed at lunchtime on Wednesday. Not so. However a quick look at the menu (sandwich 7.95 or 13.95) and the total lack of ambiance was enough to send us up the road to OId Basing. Can't imagine how they stay open.

Returned for the first time in 3 1/2 years. Pub remains just as good, but realized I never mentioned the pub cat. He (or she?) is likely to sit on the stool next to you when you order. Never did learn what he/she drank, but made for a fine companion.

A great small country restaurant/pub that serves excellent food and well kept real ale. All the food is freshly cooked on the premisis and served by very friendly staff. If you have not been there before it would be a good idea to 'Google' its location before setting of.

Good food and beer here.

This is a great little pub and deserves much praise for food and hospitality. Oliver and Sukie and all the staff are very friendly and looked after my clients very well recently.

Friendly country pub with good food and well-kept ales. No television, but newspapers available if you are by yourself. Best deal is the two-for-one mains on Monday evenings.
