Beers were nice though a bit dear, and food was OK. The woody interior seemed to lack cosy nooks in which groups could install themselves and it didn't feel that comfortable. Staff seemed in a bit of a hurry to process those taking meals, and if you didn't have a seat you felt awkward and in the way standing, with all the toing-and-froing around you.
It felt very much like a business, and although all pubs are, it was striking to me in this case.

A nice pub, although the beer and food is a bit pricey its has relatively high standards and never fails to stick to them.
|
Disappointing visit this time, 5 beers & the nearest to a local brew was Wye Valley HPA...Well served though.
|
Very nice pint of Everards Tiger as usual - 4 other choices of cask ale including Slaters and Ironbridge breweries
|
Two Salopian beers, Everards Tiger and one micro. Food very good, particularly the puddings. Worth seeking out.

Hard to find if you don't know where to look. Very basic wooden interior with lots of character. Slightly lacking in attmosphere on this visit but mainly tourists and only a few locals in. Excellent food. Beers on Everards Tiger,Adnams Broadside,Tim Taylors Landlord plus the two localish beers I tried; Backyards Shire Pale - Loads of flavour for only 3.6%, very good but not that pale! & Three Tuns XXX - Very pale and enjoyable beer. Worth seeking out, but a bit of a climb from the gorge, try parking at the old Furnace on the way to Jackfield Bridge and climbing the steps through the gardens makes for a nice walk.

Good food, good ale, at a decent pub in a reasonably quiet location. The Eton Mess was especially top notch. Some outdoor seating. I'd recommend this place for somewhere to eat/drink in the Ironbridge Gorge area.
|
Very Nice pint of Ironbridge Brewery ISB, other choices were Boradside, Directors, Wadsworth 6X and the usual Everards Tiger.... Good selection.

Called in last night as part of a mini Ironbridge crawl. 5 handpumps including Three Tuns XXX, Shropshire Lad and Abbot. Had a pint of the XXX which was very good and sat at the window overlooking Ironbridge Gorge. It would have been a great view if the trees hadn't got in the way. It's quite food led but not as much as other pubs in the town. Great range of Belgian beers too. The decor is quite basic really with dining style tables and chairs in the main. It all looks very neat and tidy though. It's a good pub, but boy do you need a drink after climbing up the hill to get here.

Much busier than the Jockey. Beer ok but just not as good an atmosphere as the Jockey.

Went here while staying in Ironbridge for the weekend.
Good little pub tucked away up a steep hill from the town centre. Impressed with the selection of five real ales and managed to sample a few of them during my quick stay. Would recommend the Salopian beer that is currently on. Nice selection of cheap snacks (hunk of warm bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar was 1 and we got through a bowl of jalapenos. Chips were not so good being oven chips.
We found a cosy seat and settled in. We were also impressed by the selection of belgian beers for which there was a menu at the table, so we tried a few of these. Not cheap but a nice change to the usual selection.
Overall well recommended.

tucked away from the main route. classic pub with great beer and good food. nice atmosphere.

called in last night staff very warm and friendly excellent choice of beers on ladies toilets were very clean
|
Excellent pub - a real find. Stayed for 4 nights - comfortable and good value accommodation, superb food, and a good range of interesting well-kept beers. Friendly staff and locals, and a lovely building. Pretty close to the perfect pub?

Good pub with 5 decent real ales on
|
A fine old inn high up on the banks of the severn. The Golden Ball serves a range of quality bar meals and A La Carte food. The Selection of ales and European Beers makes it difficult to choose what to have next. All Are well kept and clean.
|
Good pub with decent ales and interesting food choices.
|
This pub is excellent. Good range of changing beers and excellent quality. Nice atmosphere with locals and tourists mixing. Food is also excellent. Not tried restaurant but it has a good rep.
|
Tastefully decorated, and welcoming however the landlord appears to be more interested in the food operation than his beer drinking locals. The pub is listed in the CAMRA 'Good Beer Guide' but I feel the quality does not come up to scratch sometimes (warm and flat. However, to be fair there are worse cask ale pubs about.

The Golden Blaird, as it's known to locals, is a great pub, especially it's Sunday lunches. However it is not the best pub in Ironbridge. The Coalbrookdale is. Although if you're being pedantic that's in Coalbrookdale and not Ironbridge.

Fabulous ye olde pub that serves delicious food (recommend the Braised Steak and Mash with Brandy Snap Basket with Ice Cream to finish). It also has a huge range of belgian beers, all with their own unique glass. Quite simply the best pub in Ironbridge.
