Shame this one went up in smoke, a fine pub, one to go to for the atmosphere rather than the standard of the beer, one to go to later in the evening, when the taste buds have been tranquilised. Toilets were of the standard one would expect in a rock pub, though if I remember correctly, it was possible to lock the cubicles.

Used this pub quite a bit, had something of the Costas about it. Allegedly, when the fire broke out in Edwards (Which lead to the demolishing of most of the block) it was in the upstairs mens toilets - seeing as how they were always awash with p*** it`s amazing the flames took hold!

Dead, sadly. It was great at what it did.

CLOSED - Was heavily damaged by fire/smoke/water when Edwards No8 (the adjoining club) burnt down

It used to be amazing. It's just a shame.

The real purpose of this pub, it seems, is to serve as a warm-up venue and rendezvous point for those intending to attend the nearby rock club Edwards No. 8. It does extremely well in serving this purpose. The beer is nothing to write home about, the best you will do is Newcastle Brown Ale or Kronenbourg, depending on your tastes. Good rock tunes, an excellent place to start your evening of rock.
