please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Really mixed clientele for all ages. Couldn't complain about the Landlord. Small public bar with pool, larger all through lounge. Tiny bar counter, which means they cant employ more than two staff, not helpful when the person in front of you seems to be ordering a round for the whole pub.

Nice. Five beers on, all looked to be in good condition. Adnams bitter, Hobgoblin, TT Landlord and regrettably the Canadian Doombar . Adnams in good condition. Darts match with the usual banter. Worth a visit

My local, what more can I Say. Best beer in town. Only know one other boozer in the area tht serves so well-kept beers - Murphys in Leamington Spa

Called in on a walk and made to feel very welcome. Two of the best pints of Landlord I have ever had. Cracking piece of proper pork pie gratis on the bar. Proper top pub!

Yes, a proper no-frills locals pub and none the worse for that. I popped in last week and was made welcome and I enjoyed a good pint of Tim Taylor's Landlord in the old-fashioned bar.

Had a visit tonight in the name of Quility control. I had a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord which was super stuff. The nicest pint of Landlord which I have had in a while.

I drive past this place often. It always looks welcolming. We were the only customers at the time but the beer was beautifully kept. It could do with a smarten up on the inside.

Final went in and although no local beers which is a shame. My other passion is mild and the Ansell Mild is to die for. Keep um coming.

This is a very nice back street local. Busy. Recommend the ansells mild. It is nice to see a mild on offer. Well done.

This is a typical back street local but has a few well kept beers, toilets and near the coventry bus stop

Top pub. Not busy at my time of visit but had a really nice pint of mild. This pub is one of of a really good group of real ale pubs all within 10 minutes walk of each other.

The Royal oak is a nice back street local. Beer choice is a bit tame but the beer which it servers is in excellent condition. The Ansells mild was excellent. Was told this is a perminent beer. Well worth a visit on a pub crawl of old Kenilworth.

Visited again recently and this place is still punching above its weight. Keep it up!

No the Oak was recently closed for refurbishment and is now open again with a new landlord.

Still just as good.

has this place shut?

I've got a lot of time for this place. Even as a non-regular you can just walk in and feel welcome. Not a massive range of ales available but they are well looked after on the whole (good pint of Bombardier available) and the bar staff know their stuff beer-wise. Down to earth alternative in the increasingly pretentious old part of Kenilworth. Opens a bit later too. All in all a thoroughly decent boozer.
cardinalChunder - 25 Jan 2007 20:41
Real pub, top effort to keep it that way. I have occasionally had a poor pint and there has been no problem getting it changed. Usually the beer is top notch, great service, good place for darts and pool in the daytime. lets not publicise this place too loudly.

Its a real pub alright. Has lock-in written into the deeds. Good pint of mild.

Beer kept v well, and the front bar is delightful, but that barn of a room at the back ain't too pretty. Great landlord. Can get a bit smoky. But this is definitely a real pub, so we should treasure it - places like this are too easily lost.

I wish I drank in here more. Its great
Scarey_biscuits - 2 Nov 2005 14:16
My favourite pub in Kenilworth by a long way. A real local's affair.

The landlord is a gent and he makes a genuine effort to maintain the quality of the cask ale.

Certainly there are more attractive pubs in Kenilworth but none match the Oak for its atmosphere and friendly welcome.

A real pub, full of real pub people.
