Fox, Lutonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
within earshot and eyesight of luton airport this was a pleasant if unspectacular pub in the country just outside town.
i was only there for the beer which turned out to be well kept and reasonably priced. i understand it has a good reputation for its food but cannot comment personally.
the staff were pleasant and friendly on my visit so drop in if your passing by.

First, this pub is not in Luton proper, but Darley Hall. It is within just a mile of Luton airport and town, but its country setting makes it feel like a million miles away from the busy city.
Second, the food is amazing, the best pub food we have found in our 4 years in the UK so far. The menu changes regularly we were told and includes many really hearty, slightly modern, chefy takes on classic English fare. I believe they recently changed management and chef near the beginning of the year (2009), and six months on everything was well in order. We will be going back to make sure the quality is consistent, and we really hope it is since that is what separates a good pub from a great pub.
I would strongly encourage anyone reading this to give this pub a try. It isn't a chain and is really trying hard to give locals really good food at a decent price. There is another Fox pub on the main road between Harpenden and Luton, but if you are looking for a review of that one, I can tell you the Darley Hall Fox blows that one away for quality and value, so take the extra few minutes to find this slightly hidden gem in the countryside behind the airport.

This pub is under new management for the second time since before Christmas. The latest management have only just moved in so choice of beers and food are a bit limited at the moment (Feb 2008. Nice baked potato though. Worth seeing again in a few months.

Nice little pub. The dining room round the back is too small for the four tables they've got in there... which doesn't necessarily cause a problem unless its as excessively hot as it's been this summer.

What a suprise to find such a quaint traditional pub so on the outskirts of Luton. Mainly a foody pub with excellent menu. the staff are friendly and helpful. Booking is definitely advised ( and it's no under 14's after 5.30) It's not a child friendly pub to be honest, but then there are plenty of others if that's your preference. Had a great evening there with partner and parents and it's going to be on the regular list for a reasonably priced meal that is better than the average pub grub. Beef wellington - superb

Stumbled across this pub on a monday night, beautful home cooked pub grub, wide range of foods to choose from. I had the chicken curry what was lush!!! Good vegetarian menu. I would say it gets quite busy at weekends, because it was pretty busy for a monday. So book. The only down side or maybe a plus side for some, is no under 4yrs allowed.
