Country pub that is more of a restaurant that serves ale than a pub that serves food. But that seems fairly typical of this area. The car park was heaving and the pub was very busy too. Popular with families, most people were eating and there were no tables available for those dropping in. Sitting or standing at the bar appeared to be the only option for drinkers. Nevertheless, service was prompt and the ale range was decent - Happy Valley Station Road, Weetwood Bitter, Brightside Underworld Porter, Cheshire Brewhouse A Little Lupy & Salopian Conundrum. Probably best visiting on a quiet weekday.

Visited here with the family after a disappointing trip to Chelford car boot, so decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch. The food was lovely, they had stuff the kids would eat too which is always a bonus. The staff were very friendly, a guy who was presumably the manager or landlord was going round and checking everyone was OK, chatting with the diners and helping some of the older clientele to their tables. There was a decent selection of real ales available, and the pint I had was very pleasant. The food bill soon racked up but the food was decent and even the kids cleared their plates, so you don't resent paying a bit extra. There was some seating out the front and a small play area to the rear, neither of which we investigated. It was busy at Sunday lunchtime but that's to be expected and to be fair we didn't have to wait to get seated. The only thing I found a bit strange was the presence of a stool (of the seating variety) in the corner of the gents toilets - by all accounts there was one in the ladies too. Not quite sure why you need a viewing stool in the toilets! All in all a great experience in this pub and I would be happy to recommend it to anyone.

A warm welcome received today.

I didn't stay long, but there was a good range of ales, and not unduly expensive given the surroundings.

However, all but a few tables in this large pub were laid for diners, and I was directed to the few remaining, (by the toilets entrances) for none-eaters.

The clientele seemed generally of the older age group, well-spoken and prosperous.

Excellent food, the new landlord Jeremy is now the owner so has some great real ales and has clearly spent alot of money doing the place up. Its got a chinese style room, wooden floors 3 open fire plaxces, a nice large beer garden and the food portions are big! Well priced too. Our Sunday traditional roast lunch came with a massive yorkshire pud!

This 16th century country pub is conveniently situated a short walk from Chelford railway station which is on the Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe main line and has a good service. If arriving from Manchester, exit to the main road and turn right, walk along the pavement over the railway bridge and straight on, if arriving from Crewe then exit onto the little lane and continue walking along the main road, after not more than an easy ten minute stroll you will find yourself at the Egerton Arms.

Enter through the door at the front of the pub attractively decked out with hanging baskets containing a beautiful display of flowers and find the bar ahead of you. The bar staff are very welcoming and the landlord extremely pleasant, no cold reception here. We believe the Landlord is soon to become the owner after having bought the pub from the brewery, hopefully this will be good for the pub's future.

The interior of the pub is of a traditional style, which we like very much, quaint old oak beams with
interesting inscriptions on them, some stained glass windows and pictures of country scenes which all add character. With sturdy tables for dining and comfy seats to relax on we find that there is a good pleasant atmosphere and nice surroundings to enjoy a drink and some food.

There are well kept real ales on offer, Bombardier, Black Sheep and Courage Directors, of which the latter went down very nicely thank-you, the last time we were there.

Now .... the food.

We have been to this pub several times in recent months and we have to say that we have never had a poor meal here, in our opinion the food is simply superb. The bruschetta is a favourite for starters, other starters sampled have been the soup of the day and the pate which was beautiful. For a main, the haddock with crayfish and white wine sauce from the special menu is first class, the duck is to die for, they do a great burger and very tasty vegetable lasagne to name just a few but whatever you pick, we don't think you can go wrong.

We have no hesitation in recommending this pub to anyone, in fact we recently recommended the Egerton Arms to a work colleague who wanted to take his wife out for a nice meal on her birthday. He was very pleased and gave a favourable report when asked about his visit.

This pub is nice surroundings, nice atmosphere, warm friendly staff, good ale and great food, in fact
this pub really has become one of our firm favourites.

We do hope they keep up the good standard and we're happily looking forward to our next visit.

Attractive, traditional country pub located on the Knutsford to Macclesfield road, just outside the picturesque village of Chelford.
Former coach house which now offers a fine selection of ale, including the best pint of Bombadier i`ve tasted in many a year!
Food is reputed to be top draw too!
