The Fountain was my first stop in Aberystwyth. It is in fact on the opposite side of the river from the town centre in an area known a Trefechan. The exterior has been painted a bright red/pink colour and the building adjacent to it has been knocked down. There are two entrances. One leads to a small dining area, whilst the other is a public bar with a pool table in the middle. Beyond that was another tiny room. I chose the bar, where the solitary handpull can be found. Locals were there watching the rugby and tucking into complimentary sausages and chips that were on the bar. The real ale was Felinfoel Cambrian Bitter.

went in here on 3rd September, Felin Foel on tap, quite a decent place and nice food as well

25 May 07, went on a reckie as thinking of moving down to this area. It was a Friday lunch time and the other CAMRA recommended real ale pubs in the Centre were closed, found this little gem though, and although it was very quiet, it was a friendly really nice pub, and the Brains Dark Real Ale was just right. Menu looked good, but we had already eaten. Looking forwad to returning when we move doen this way.

Ale is often too cold, otherwise, still a good place to spend a couple of hours.

This used to be my favourite haunt as a student. Good food, relaxed atmosphere, nice beer and friendly staff. If only there were more pubs like this one.

Excellent pub, takes a bit of finding chance are you will only find it if lost or looking for the fire station.
Everytime I have been in there has been offers on, good Brains ale. The landlord of the place is the most genial host in Aber.

I like this pub, the layered levels and sizzling food give it a pleasant atmosphere. Besides that it's the only place in Aberystwyth where you can get a cask MILD other than some of the Banks's houses. Next time I visit the caravan at Clarach Bay I will be trecking it over to this pub to sample the food and a few pints of the Brains MILD.

Aber students tend to find this late; but thanks to the all-singing, all-dancing Tref bridge you too can now sample the unique atmosphere of The Fountain.
Tales abound that it used to be full all the time, hosting rockers, role-players and some of the gay population. However whenever I've been in it always seems empty, which is sad.
It has Brains Dark, which is always a winner and the jukey is good. Used to have fish as well, but I think someone might have poured a beer into their tank. Also made some headlines a few years back, but you'll have to google that one...

Genius pub - great food, scrumpy jacks - only brains ales though. Small, freindly, fantastic juke box, pool table - guy with a beard
the best lanlord EVER!
