visited Royal Oak for lunch on Tuesday. Was greeted by very friendly staff and locals. Food was delicious, cottage pie & veg �1.99 very good value. Still had enough money for the bus fare home which stops right outside.

Popped in yesterday. A pub in a very nice setting. The decor was very much what you'd expect of a country pub. Agree to some extent with MankyBadger about the clientele! A mix of characters all around the 60 mark. Much to be expected being the middle of the afternoon I guess. Don't think "Jack" was present. If he was he was keeping a low profile!
Although everybody seem to know each other we were not ignored and the atmosphere was a very friendly one. Apparently the place gets very packed at times, especially on a Sunday where you have to book if you want to eat.
The ales available were Spitfire, Greene King and Masterbrew. Not the most imaginative selection but well kept and a snip at �2.10.
Definately worth a return visit.

A group of us walk the 4 miles through the country lanes once a fortnight. Choice of 4 Bitters all priced �2 or �2.10. What value. Food on a Monday?Tuesday �2.99 @ Lunchtime.

Perhaps I'm over-sensitive about "local pubs for local people", but I got definite vibes of �Royston Vasey�. Especially when �Jack� came in. I don�t know who Jack was, but everyone else in the pub did, and made great show of welcoming him. We felt embarrassed that we didn't know him ! Whilst the locals were very welcoming, I did feel an intruder there.
It's a strange place. The clientele were all well over sixty and the juke box was playing stuff from the 80s far too loud. The vibe just didn't seem right. Ideal for the locals, but not a place to pop in to whilst passing.
But the food was OK. Two Sunday roasts, and drinks for thirteen quid. Can�t be bad. The place had a meat raffle for those who like that sort of thing, and three decent ales can't be bad.
However, after all is weighed up, it's just another Kentish pub. A good pub - there are some stinkers in Kent. But in all honesty it's just another good pub. And so it scores 7/10 - average

You will always be sure of a warm welcome at the Royal Oak in Capel.
Situated in beautiful countryside and very close to the North Downs Way with its magnificient views across the Channel.
If you are a Real Ale connoisseur then you will be delighted with the ales.
There are new beers every week when you can get the finest quality real ales for around �2.00 a pint! - sometimes even less!
If you need something to eat then there is everything from sandwiches to gourmet evening meals.
Just visit once and you will keep coming back for more.

This is a very friendly pub in a nice part of Kent.
Nice beer fairly priced. Pool table. Beer garden. The thick sea mist was rolling in from the coast on one day I went which made for a nice atmospheric sup.
Another time I went was FA Cup final day and the landlord made chicken drunsticks and sandwiches to go round which was very appreciated. Recommended boozer!

The home of capel rock - a music festival every year August bank holiday. Real village pub with friendly staff. Real ales,Pool, Darts, Crib, Live Music, Sky TV, Quiz Nights, Beer Garden with childrens play area, caravan parking area and good selection of drinks reasonably priced.
