Contrary to the last review, the Olde White Horse was in the Good Beer Guide in 2008! Whilst it is a Samuel Smith's pub, it does have their Old Brewery Bitter on handpull. So don't rule it out from making another appearance. The pub is a landmark thatched building next to the town's main bridge. It's an impressive sight when viewed from across the river. Ayscoughfee Hall is also nearby and worth a visit. Inside the pub, there are a number of rooms and there is also a garden at the back. Whilst you'll only get the one ale in here, the price is cheap and it's a nice place for a drink. Moved on from here to the Lincoln Arms, the Lincolnshire Poacher and the Red Lion Hotel. But none are listed on the site.

As this is a Sam Smiths pub they are never going to get in the Good Beer Guide.
But it’s a nice enough pub and if you click on image two at the top of this page you will see a nice picture of the exterior.
In here just after noon last Saturday.
There are about a dozen or so people going to a wedding present in there tops and tails and a few locals also.
There is a mixture of soft and hard seating and also carpet, wood and stone flooring.
Only two hand pulls both for Sam Smiths Old Brewery Bitter which is ok and costs £1.80 which is unbelievably cheap!!

Loved this pub when I was a kid! My aunt and uncle run it for 25+ years. Was back recently and the old place has not changed much. A good solid local with friendly folks.

This is indeed a friendly pub, and it sells Old Brewery Bitter on handpump for 1.48 and in good nick too.

True, OBB was the only real ale offered on handpump but I understand the management of the pub is in transition. There is also a range of bottled ales at high prices (3), as is the custom in Sam Smith houses.

Worth a visit, and only a step away from the market square and all the other pubs in the town. 10 to 15 minutes' walk from the railway station.

This is a great pub with a friendly atmosphere but for some reason the brewery seem intent on ruining it?! They have just taken out the Alpine lager and just left some undrinkable rubbish called Taddy. I, like others, am very disapointed.

this pub has great food. bt its cold and they do not sell alcopops ect.its cheap beer bt id rather pay the extra and drink in shooters. its ideal for the more mature person bt not if you like to have a dance and pull a hottie.

I visited this pub yesterday lunchtime, following the reviews I found on this site. The food was excellent - especially the fresh fish! The beer was cheap, and the food prices were acceptable. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We shall certainly be going back there again. Strongly recommended.

A great place to relax, meet the locals and drink happily at Sam Smith's amazingly low prices. 1.59 for Alpine Lager, 1.39 (I think) for Old B Bitter, need I say more?

Quality Sam Smiths pub with a lounge bar split going on. Failry old fashioned but the food is typically good value and the drinks cheap. They serve D-Pils here if you are in a rocket fuel kind of mood. Small beer patio area to rear and ample car parking. Really nice place.
